The Title is there for the taking...

Staggering amount of posters suddenly sticking Liverpool on the verge of title contention or at least strong top four contenders after three games, in which they've only played good football for about 45 minutes against Villa.

This is a team who finished behind Davie Moyles Everton last term. While they've strengthened their squad depth nicely and have plenty of young players with potential, their best XI is basically the same team that finished seventh last season from what I can see ?

The only outfield position that looks likely to be upgraded from last year so far is the partner for Agger at the back .... and that has been by our former fourth choice central defender !

If we're going to win it then we need to improve a helluva lot. I know we have a new manager, and new players, but I haven't seen anything approaching a title winning season yet. We look as bad as we did in parts of last season. Early doors I know, so not in panic mode yet, but we need to improve.

Only read the first 2 pages, but surprised that so many are dismissing Eto'o without seeing him play. 32 is not that old. If he still has his pace he will be a very significant signing for them, perhaps the best signing of the window. I base that on two thoughts:

1) just how much Chelsea need a striker
2) How good he was when he left Europe

He could have lost it, but I prefer to wait and see.

Regarding Fellaini, it gives Utd an extra option at set pieces, but I don't see him slipping RVP in with a defence splitting pass. Who does he replace in their midfield?

Any City fan who has watched City this season should be extremely cautious based on the opening 3 games.

-- Tue Sep 03, 2013 7:26 am --

But it's better basing your opinion on what we have seen than on wishful thinking.

Spurs under Ossie Ardiles had superstars but their team did not work. Pellegrini seems driven by one aim only - I must play attacking football. And it's left us without a midfield.

I feel like City and United have switched roles this year. There were times last season where the rags would look absolutely awful for 2/3rds of the game, and then Van Persie or someone else would pop up for a game winner, and add an extra goal before the end of the match. City, on the other hand, would play some beautiful football, but fail to score. Not to mention the roles in the transfer business has been reversed. Chelsea certainly don't look anything special. I give credit to Liverpool and Arsenal, but I can't take them seriously as title contenders until I see them doing what they're doing now in November.

I'm still very confident of City's chances of winning the league. I think 84-87 points will win it this year.

The window bangs shut and Chelsea still have sod all in the way of strikers and ManU have filled the gaping void that is their midfield with Fellaini and possibly Coentrão (who isn't a midfielder).

Out of the 'big three' we have the best balanced squad by some distance. This is a squad that has won the title and averaged 80 points a season over the last 3 seasons. It has a better balance this year and been improved (I know this is true because Txiki said so). Furthermore Moyes has junked two decades of hard work and made ManU a laughing stock in a mere two months which you have to admit is fucking impressive.

We have a golden opportunity to reclaim the PL title this year. Spurs have bought well but have lost Bale and are going to spend half the season 'gelling' - actually looking a bit like we did at the start of the 10/11 season. Liverpool looking decent but still some way off and Arsenal having bagged Ozil will be good this year and may be a surprise package. More importantly these 3 sides if they continue progressing will prove more of a threat next season than this and if Moyes continues his rich vein of comedy form he won't be around next season which will automatically make ManU better.

This season is an open goal waiting for one team to smack it into the net and stroll off with the title.

Lets make sure it is us.

Because it fucking should be.
Spot on
All he has to do is improve on last seasons points haul by 5 or 6 points and that will be enough

I hope so skyeble.

Very happy with Negredo.

Another reason to be happy is the absolute incompetence of the Utd regime.

Yesterday morning I was thinking that Wemger had made the mother of all mistakes and revealed that £42.5m was what was required to take Ozil. Utd should have been all over that, and if hey had hijacked the deal, the title really would be all over

I'm wary of Chelsea. We don't yet know what Willian and Eto'o will add. Arsenal are also significantly stronger, and Liverpool are decent too. Rising confidence and self-belief is very important

I also have a growing doubt that our Spanish overseers and Pellegrini really know what they are doing. Most blues are waiting for it to click - I'm not sure it's going to. It all should be so easy - just go back to last season's formation. But no we have to play a winger who hugs the touchline and two up top. Crazy

"Our Spanish overseers"?

Nearly as bad as the often touted "Arabs" tag and the sort of vocabulary you would expect from a bitter rival rather than a blue on here.

As for you thinking they don't know what they are doing.......ffs Marvn!
