Time catching up with Zabaleta?

With the exception of Denayer being convered to RB,Ive already stated I don't believe we have anything in the EDS currently capable.

Despite Sagna's age,he looks better equipped physically to handle another couple of seasons than Zabba imo.
we don't want an mdm situation with sagna though and there aren't really any world class full backs who we can buy, so the academy may have to do unless we want to paying over the odds for okay defenders?

Maffeo is definitely capable. More than capable.

why would we get rid of the best full back we have, the bigger problem we have is midfield cover for our defense, imo

But he isn't the best full back we have anymore. Defensively, he is probably third best at the moment.

Could he get back to his best for another season? I don't know but I suspect not. Would love to be wrong: he is one of our modern heroes but sentiment cannot be part of any decision on who should be part of the squad next season.

People forget he played a hell off a lot off football last season we us & country.
Then he had that major injury,So as well as Sagna who,s been are top defender zabba hasn't had the game time
since recovering from the injury,So for me it ring rust...
And yes he could play midfield like he played some game when he first sign(look good in that position also)

Neither will it I suspect.

Pep will be utterly ruthless and he will get exactly what he wants from those above.

I think Zabba will be Guardiola's first choice full back next season. He creates far more attacking threat than Sagna & his work ethic is second to none.

Maffeo is definitely capable. More than capable.
I have lost track of the number of times over the last 9 months or so that I have heard Maffeo mentioned as a replacement. But what hard evidence is there for these assertions. Don't get me wrong I would love to see the lad progress but is this not all a ball of smoke?

No real idea what has happened with Maffeo while he has been in Spain but I would definitely expect him to be with City next season. He should have played some games for us already earler in the season when we had defensive problems due to injuries but Pellers messed up imo. Very good defensively and has been getting better and better going forward. I would have said better than Zaba already and I have been , still am , a massive Zaba fan.

I think he may well be used as a DM, doesn't need to be particularly quick and could play in front of the back four, I've been saying his legs have gone and he knows it as well.

Great performances for the youth teams, exceptional performances when on the summer tour? Why would anyone think it's a ball of smoke?

Maffeo is a natural defender, Zaba isn't - he had to work really hard on it when he first got here. His loan hasn't gone particularly well, but Harry Kane couldn't get a game for Leicester in the championship and the next season he scored 20 Premier league goals.

Loans are very complicated, there's a million reasons why a very good player could not play while on loan, but that doesn't mean he's not learning from the experience of being away from City. I wouldn't be too worried that he's not playing much for Girona.

As I see it Zab will be one of those that Pep will take a long look at then decide what to do.

Not a certain "keep" or "sell" but will have an idea what to do and will make final decision after speaking to and watching him in the late pre-season and early competitive games.
In interviews I think that Zab and Nasri would like to stay but are aware that it's far from certain that they figure in the plans so they will do their best to convince Pep that they are worthy of a place in a fiercely competitive contest to go forward with City.

Even if he doesnt deserve a place in the starting 11 next year he has to be kept imo.... He has a lot of love for City and the fans and the team need more of that given the lackluster performances this year.

Wouldnt be sure who to bet on between Zaba and Javier Macsherano over 100 yards (even in their pomp), but Pep did OK with Mascherano...there could still be a squad place for the lad.

I think he'll have a look at him before making any decision but one things for sure, that lad is a true City legend in my eyes, never given less than 100%. I love him.

I would hope his dip this season is down to injuries and then lack of match sharpness. I would hate to write off such a fantastic Blue before his time.

Sent from the motorway hard shoulder, kecks around ankles.
