Var debate 2019/20

Stopping me celebrating now. Think this will be my last year as SC holder, 32 years strong but it’s ruining it for me

I think you are being a bit dramatic there mate.
How many times over the years have we scored a goal , celebrated wildly, only to see the home/away fans giving us the v sign and wanker signs only to realise the linesman has flagged offside.
For me it's the same thing I will still celebrate wildly and if it goes to VAR I will celebrate again!!!!
Its only early days yet give it time.
I think the game will benefit in the end , especially for City

The margin of a few mm offside would have taken Jesus approx 0.006 seconds (1 x 6000th) to cover. If the moment of release of the pass to him is determined by human eye, then no way can the person get it anywhere near 100% accurate.

Walton seemed to imply earlier that technology is being used to decide, which was shown to managers and captains this week.
Yes I noticed that, however, the way decisions are reported to viewers and fans in the stadium is dreadful. So far behind cricket and rugby union.

For Christ’s sake, from your own post:

“Factual decisions, such as offside or if a foul was committed inside or outside the penalty area, will not be subject to the "clear and obvious error" test.”

Every goal is checked for offside. We’ve been aware that would be the case for months.
I might be being thick but i don't read that the same as you

You are either onside or offside.....there is no middle ground

Possible to be both - for example 1. stood over the half way line. 2. Onside wen struck, move offside before the striking of the ball ends.

Factual decisions such as offside don’t need to pass the clear and obvious test.

So we know that to be true.

We also know every goal will be checked for offside as they’ve been saying it for months. So every offside, no matter how tight, will be given.
