He's an idiot. Made his own bed now. We pay his wages and he risks himself like this, thanks vinny but that's enough now

Hope it is this.

Putting club before country is fine by me...and KDB is not eh bench as well so two of our players on internationals are not playing (one not as much as he possibly could) suits me down to the ground.....

He's hardly putting club before country, now is he? He flaunted that idea last year by playing when he shouldn't and he's pulled himself out in the cup game, that was hardly country before club... His body is knackered, the sooner we realise it's not vinny of 2012, the sooner we can let go!!

Unlike you to be o negative about something...thought that was my job

Im willing to give the guy as much time as possible and he has pulled out (supposedly) as a precaution - to me that says he is learning from mistakes of the past.

It could be a mental thing as well (as someone else suggested) which in itself brings about different concerns for his future.

I aint righting him off just yet as I think he has earned that patience............something that a lot of football fans don't have I know. Then other reason is that he is still better than any centre havve we have by a long shot.....Stones may get there but as a pure defender he aint close yet.....Ottomendi won't ever be as good even though he is good. And the only other one we have at present is Kolorov and he (imho) is shit whether at fullback or centre half. So yes, it maybe hopeful but I will hang onto that hope as at the present (and at least for he next season) we are better with him.

I agree with this, he's clearly not feeling right whether its mental or physical. That he has pulled himself out of the game (if true) is good in that he hasn't risked further injury, something he promised Pep he would do, its not good because its obviously preying on his mind.

He needs to get his head right, so we need to give him time and help him do that.

It's really impossible for us to judge this from the outside.

We know that in the past Kompany has pushed through all sorts of difficulties to play games when he shouldn't.

Now he's pulled out of 2 because he didn't feel right and come off at half time in the derby but it's impossible for any fan to say if his body is gone, or he's got a mental problem OR he's just doing what Pep has told him to do, what he said he promised to do even though it's unnatural for him and he wants to play.

Until proven otherwise, given his track record of playing though injuries, I think we should just assume that he's being incredibly cautious because that's what he promised the medical staff, to back out even if he wants to play, putting long term fitness ahead of the immediate gain of playing football.

It's not negativity, it's realism....

This is kicking on for nearly two years now, there's no shame in looking at things sensibly and that would be to look at the facts..

People think you're turning on a player by suggesting his best days are behind him, it's iust some are able to see a little further down the line...

Unfortunately vinny won't be here next year, I'll take anyone's money on it, am I sad at the thought? Absolutely, he's a city legend in my book, however, the club needs to be selfish here and it will be!!!

strange...when I've used that line before I've just been hounded for it but never mind.

Im not actually disagreeing with the possibility that his best days are behind him but in the very near future he is still our best defender and IF we can get him fit and playing then its all the better and Im willing just to wait and see. There are however a few (a small minority) that are just too eager to be be proved right rather than offer support to as you put it an absolute legend.

The club made a mistake in not buying another centre half in the summer transfer window to cover for this..

thats exactly what I'm hoping...could be wrong and will be sad to be...but I'm hoping and he absolutely deserves every single chance to get himself right....we don't lose anything by it in the end.......

I agree, but only if its certain. Lets see how it pans out over the next few months, and if it does seem like the end, I'd still like the club to keep him, doing good for the club, involved with the youngsters for instance, he still has much to offer football in the future, and I'd prefer it was at City.

He's finished, Pep has a big big decision to make now as this I feel is the straw that broke the camels back regarding his City career .

When Pep is choosing Kolorov over Vinny at CB then you know something just ain't right.

To be fair Kolorov is doing a good job, we need to get behind him now as he will be playing there a lot til the summer window.

Kolorov is a fake hardman and a woeful defender......he doesn't have 1% of the commitment to the club that Kompany has. His performances have been vastly overrated this season in every sense and he is a liability. If Kompany cant play we need a new centre half and a new left back as soon as possible.

Pep doesn't have any decision to make...Kompany and him along with the doctors will make the decision....Pep isn't a doctor and will take advice. He would be insane (and wrong) not to,

No one knows at present why he pulled out tonight.....Maybe he just didnt feel something was quite right and he is doing exactly as the city medical staff have told him to do and not play unless sure. He has admitted in the past that he hasn't listened to his body and this has led to further injury.
If it is an injury he deserves every chance to keep trying till he decides that he cant play again.

The situation reminds me of LEdley King at spurs...he was constantly injured (also an excellent centre half) but the club managed it for him for years and years......we won't lost anything by doing the same for the next few seasons. We just need another alternative for when he cant play. That should have been sorted out int he summer so we don't have to play the likes of Kolorov ever

Edit: Martinez said he had been fine for 3 days but didnt feel right int he warm up......so no chances taken........Doesnt sound like an injury as such just Kompany listening to his body....there is every chance that his head is not right (understandably)...Id be very interested to know whether it was his calf or his thigh (which was the last operation he had)....that is a huge injury but completely unrelated to the consistent calf problems he has had in the past.......

He should be sent back to the club for assessment but Martinez is saying that he will be assessed the day before the next match (estonia) but doesn't think VK will be able to play.....mixed messages!

Yeah. It feels like it''s time to move on. If this is just another temporary issue (and please may that all be all it is) then hopefully crisis averted.

His best days are behind him.

He might have to retire within the next twelve months and I think Pep is grooming him for a role at the club.

It doesnt matter what happens with international duty. Pep has been speaking about Kompany in past tenses and increasingly so. He isnt in the plans and you can forgive the manager for that. Take MOTD for instance; how many years now have we had to endure that stupid fecking graph and all the stats comparing how well we played with him and how we performed without? Point being, we were better with him, but we couldnt have him enough and so were affected by it. Therefore, wider interest and longer term, he has come to the end. And we thank him for being the beast that he was.

Its simply over.

The owners and management of this club want to take it to the very pinnacle of world football and when that is the case , there is simply no room for ANY passengers, whoever and whatever they may have achieved in the past.

Vincent Kompany has been a magnificent player and captain of our club, but it's time to move on.

My immediate thought was that he should retire from international football to help save his body but it would have actually been nice to see him complete another 90 mins.

It's not looking very good for him, that's for sure and it's incredibly sad for such a great player and club legend.

I'm sure an update will be provided today,i'm guessing its probably something or nothing and he was simply listening to recent advice.

Hopefully, suggestions of his immediate retirement are very wide of the mark.
