Stood up, swinging my scarf, joining in all the chants (that I could hear clearly), but it was like pulling teeth. Everyone around me sat in complete silence.

I was clapping along to songs, whistling. I could sense the toes curling around me haha.

If I had to sit in the third tier I wouldn't go, for me (even at 58) it's supporting the team ie singing, booing whatever, to just sit there and do fuck all I can't comprehend, they barely move. I sat in the south south second tier a few years ago for a champions league game and it was shite, a couple in front of us never even CLAPPED when we SCORED just sat in total silence, and yes they were city fans...
 
Who were the massed ranks of kids at the bottom right corner(ish) of the family stand? They didn’t half make a racket towards the end of the 2nd half. Lol!

I sat in the CB3 last night it was fine. Big bunch of French tourists behind me wearing half & half scarves who never stopped taking photos of themselves all night - that type of stuff doesn't help.
I sat in blocks 327 & 328 for a season each recently and it's just not true that people in there don't support or get behind the team. As we all know CL games are just so different from a normal league game. Not a fair comparison really.

In the old days you would only have to start pointing at them and shouting YOU RED BASTARDS they would fuck off or be fucked off sharpish.
 
The laser show was brilliant and kids loved it.

What's with the waving phone torches around like loons? Groups all over doing it.

So many instagram types doing bleeding photo shoots .....love themselves (male and female)

Loads of fans near me were fans of other clubs just came for the experience.

We live different worlds... You’re Didsbury and Im Burnage. You want Bluemoon sang when it’s time to sing and I’m happy to sing along with whatever song at whatever time! Maybe our lives will intersect when we sing your preferred song at your preferred time and maybe then, we will sing along together. I’ll look forward to it.

Do you think 111 110 and 109 are just miming the songs? Many of the songs start off in those blocks pal, it's not just about the South stand.

That's one of the biggest problems with our atmosphere having 2 different singing sections which can't hear each other

But the first five minutes of a game usually sets the tone for the “floating” singers in the stadium and if you’re purposefully clapping out “empty seats at home” and “you thought you’d win the league at Sunderland” and “Edin Dzeko” from the first minute, like in the last home game when it was those three in that order in the first two minutes of the game, you are killing the proper atmosphere, not creating it.

People around the other blocks don’t join in, people who would sing think “nobody is singing around me” and then the singing becomes mainly confined to 400 people behind the goal. It becomes self defeating.

When the big games are on the proper songs start elsewhere from behind the goal for that reason.

agreed time to sing songs more relevant to present day rather than a few seasons ago or players we regularly moaned about
