Bet Daffy was thereI was there in the back Bar and Newcastle came up the piece of land beside the Pub. City backed off but stood at the door and they didn't get in. There would have been no City in the front bar as all the lads used the back and as I said most had gone to the ground when they arrived. I do not remember any of the front windows going through and they certainly didn't get inside to trash the place. However i am checking with mates and will come back to you.
I remember hearing tales that they put a match stick between 2 blade'sBut as I recall it took a Leeds fan to tape two blades together.
So they couldn't stich it properly and it left a bigger scar
First teacher interview I had to inform the headteacher that, ahem, there may be two convictions on my DRB. One for breach of peace - ballooning around outside Rosie’s bar after Blackpool Div 3 game and the other for running on pitch at Blackburn 3-2 Easter holiday win. Nicked and was only one from our lot not to be back in your car after the game. Got £110 fine. For the Rosie one I was bound over and not fined. If all of this had gone on your cv when you were starting out, on your career ,you surely wouldn't have been held in the same high esteem that you currently enjoy !!!
My mistake - just remembered- think it was Sherwood not Lord Lyon where they’d put flag up. They’d obviously got there very early - few City outside talking about liberties etc.Newcastle put huge flag up very early doors at the Lord Lyon and had large number their lads inside. City pulled it down and tried to set fire to it. It was the day they beat us 1-0 Shearer header. Carnage after game City attacking then. Remember a load of baking trays being emptied in a butty shop on Claremont rd and then being used to hit geordies over head.
Yes....in the car park. He had a bugle and he the spurs shirt was bloody.I also saw that, he had a spurs shirt on if I remember, it was across his stomach.
You still owe me the petrol money for your 1 way tripFirst teacher interview I had to inform the headteacher that, ahem, there may be two convictions on my DRB. Neither showed up on my DRB. Given the job was at Catholic school I sought (and was apparently given) suitable forgiveness.
Got back from Blackburn at 4:30am and dropped off by another lad who’d been nicked. Long walk from Palatine rd to the Arndale. Swore I saw your curtains twitching.
Lives in Falinge I think… rough as hell.Sure DD lives in Rochdale now or did a few years back
One of the 7 sister tower blocks?
Yes it was the Sherwood. They were in as soon as it opened. My mistake - just remembered- think it was Sherwood not Lord Lyon where they’d put flag up. They’d obviously got there very early - few City outside talking about liberties etc.
Remember Barnsley turning up for the FA Cup game in a transit and trying it on in Sherwood. Bad decision.
I gave it Jimmy. He said he’d look after it for me. Just before he popped into The Grafton…You still owe me the petrol money for your 1 way trip
I will get on his debtors list, just behind the penguinI gave it Jimmy. He said he’d look after it for me. Just before he popped into The Grafton…
Got a good slapping outside after the match though!Remember Coventry lads jumping their side of the north stand and wading into city fans I think a few got jail sentences.
Yes I remember that. I've never remotely had anything to do with that scene but why did they do that? Was it a revenge thing as Coventry City isn't known as a particularly "naughty" club like Millwall and the like.Remember Coventry lads jumping their side of the north stand and wading into city fans I think a few got jail sentences.
The Albert was a top boozer and Jimmy was a top LandlordDeffo did the Clarence and deffo did a couple more but not sure which they were pal - a long time ago (possibly the Albert?)
No idea mate, they went for city tho and quite a few of them. Poster above said they got battered after the game.Yes I remember that. Boro always dodge pre match and appeared after. Back of North stand being there favourite. Until we got them in The Waldorf. Later that night, think they missed the last train!Hang on. Boro never trashed the Clarence. where do you get that information from. ?
Yes it was the Sherwood. They were in as soon as it opene
Boro definitely turned up late at the Clarence,I'd left with a few but couple of mates who stayed in turned up late to the game with their heads bandaged! Barnsley at the sherwood, dunno what they were thinking, turned up at the door giving it loads, didn't get in the pub and when they ran they ran to their transport, minibuses and their lads were destroyed on the car park.Boro always dodge pre match and appeared after.
