PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

This maybe the case of making 2+2 =5 but i am slightly amused by all the spendings by the Top 6 clubs this window even fucking Spurs.

Is this because we may have twisted the league’s arm around the charges and APT case and they think this is the right time to invest like crazy before City win every case and invest another 300m into the squad.

I maybe be completely wrong but the transfer window has been perplexing.
Why would Liverpool invest 400 million in one window when they never did for Kloop - clearly better manager and with peak VVD Salah and Mane.
Imagine a Wirtz or an Isak instead of a Firmino and Henderson and they win it all.

Seeing as it’s a topic of conversation, my username could possibly be misleading.

I was certainly never a Gordon Davies fanboy. I liked him as a player and thought he suffered in terms of popularity from being partnered up front with a genuine Blue, and so felt a little sorry for him. But I could place another two dozen City players from before the takeover ahead of him in my affections.

Thought he was a decent poacher, but was sadly typical of the level we were at. A good pro, but never going to transform the club’s fortunes. Think he’d probably be Championship level today. Possibly lower.

When I registered on here, he was the first player that came into my head, and I remembered the moustache, and there we are.

And then I was ‘stuck’ with the name and cba changing it. Briefly flirted in my own head with changing it to ‘GDM’, but decided it would be far too self-absorbed and wanky, and conspicuously so, so elected not to.

So the prevailing lack of apostrophe and capitalisation is merely a function of a combination of my indolence and desire to not look wanky.
The story of how I chose my username is much less interesting

We’re all guessing, and even people who are well-informed could be making assumptions that are wholly wrong or irrelevant considerations. That’s perfectly possible when there’s such a deficit of any meaningful news.

All anyone can do is call it as they see it. And it means fuck all in the grand scheme of things if people call that right, or get it wrong. If I’ve called this wrong then I’ll have think why, but it won’t especially bother me. I’ll be far more bothered about the result, than my powers of prediction, when it’s pretty much been based on guesswork.

The absence of any leaks is pretty mental actually. Not a single commercial lawyer I know has heard a thing. Or at least that’s what they’ve told me!
That last paragraph is why I don’t believe anyone knows yet.
People will have views, predictions, etc but nothing more. But again we just don’t know.

Liverpool are possibly just trying to capitalise on Slotts momentum and our dip. Might be that simple.

I've been working on a certain agents house, he has no city players of high profile on board, but certainly 1 from utd, 1 from Newcastle and few from other premier league clubs, that I know of, he's no super agent but obviously knows his stuff, anyway, I asked him why players were still open to joining City if getting done, relegated, banned etc etc, he said, "because they will get away with it", without telling him I'm a City fan, hope he's correct, if not, I'm stretching this out and charging him more :-))
Fuck charging him some more....mix fish oil into the plaster...or if you are putting up stud walls etc a few pieces of fresh fish hung up inside will do the trick : )

Even the rags have found cash from the Magic Money Tree. I always said they would.

This may be an actual possibility. They do seem to be going all in this window, snapping up as many as they can - which they have never done before. A situation where they are throwing everything into a transfer window to stock pile who they believe will allow themselves to keep pace once tbe verdict drops.

A long shot here, but maybe they are safeguarding themselves for the aftermath of whats to come when we are cleared, and we go for damages etc and it all sheds light on the other clubs dealings.

Maybe now these fuckerd are believing their attempt has failed, and they forsee that our club will be back in a position of strength in 2026

Football is going to get a rude awakening soon with the rising prises and the rising costs of players etc, the bubble is going to have to burst at some point.

IMHO the industry and sport in general is in a shit state it's handing out cash like it's meaningless.

Not a chance it wouldn't have leaked by now if true.

Off topic but I'm not sure there would have been much difference between Isak and Firmino. I'm fairly certain they'd have won less with Wirtz rather than Henderson. I'm not much of a Henderson fan but he did a lot for that team besides create and score goals.

I can’t remember him doing it as I was no older than 3 but my dad told me Gordon Davies broke my little tennis racket. It was at Golden Sands caravan park near Rhyl about 1956. The bastard. Those were the days when footballer went to Rhyl for their holidays

you could be right but why didn't they do it for klopp when he won the league. Just think if your looking at players you try and get them in when there's less competition for them the last thing these teams would want is Newcastle etc throwing money around would be more of a problem for rags spurs arse who don't really win much one of the main benefits to are rivals is the charges and player recruitment that I'm sure would always be used in player recruitment

I don’t think we should assume leak like people would know the exact point deduction or exact dollar fine - I meant more like how in court trials the movement or the demeanour of the juries tell us whether the person will be found guilty or not.

My belief comes from the fact that these billionaires who drink and dine with Prime Ministers and Presidents and oligarchs should know where the wind is blowing in most aspects of society.

You'd have thought the CAS decision would have told them that?

Breaching the FFP rules is very certainly one of the allegations, actually 25 of the allegations in the fourth tranche of their statement referring the allegations to a disciplinary commission, iirc.

But my only point is that something may be going on that we don't know about. Questioning the legality of the FFP rules in the same way as for APT could be such an issue. Or not. It would certainly be a reasonable defence to the alleged breaches of FFP imho and would, if successful, lead to all hell breaking loose on the sanctions previously handed out and cause some serious introspection at the PL.

I recognise that my null and void FFP theory isn't popular on here and it may be complete bollocks, but I have never had any problem being unpopular or talking bollocks :)
Will city want the rules to be void ? Means other clubs can spend ? Means people can say you broke the rules that where illegal but shouldn’t have been and you shouldn’t have broke them anyway as they where the rules. Also whilst what you say wouldn’t surprise me and something along those lines might happen I am not sure it happens without another case could maybe be a temporary ruling or implied or referred to a new panel or court but I just don’t see a tribunal being able to make that ruling and do we want a delay

Of a similar opinion. Personally I’m against the 3 year 105m. I think it should be zero. But I also think investment rules should be loosened. So clubs can be gifted money from owners. Basically allow investment but not debt. The funding for player transfers and player wages in place ahead of any transfer.
The obvious problem with the idea is with smaller clubs on month to month finances.
But it would force clubs to operate within their means.
