Setting aside the possibility of undue influence being exerted by other members of the league, I don't think it much of a reach to think that those at the league who made the decision to pursue the case against City considered factors beyond simply winning or losing the case in making the decision. It would be much harder to believe that they didn't, in my experience in corporate litigation for the last 25+ years.Well, the process is the punishment. I’m not a big fan of conspiracy theories, and it would be unbelievable if the league pulled something like that on one of its own members. On the other hand, how UEFA handled the FFP case in 2014 is well documented — sometimes reality really is stranger than fiction.
