This is the way football supporters have to go in order to avoid the biased corrupt gutterpress

For the first time in a long time and I hope city read this, I'm blooming tired and fed up with all this anti city bias.

Normally I'm fine with it and say to myself any news is good news and that there's a long term strategy bla bla bla bla. I can also pick out one or two journalists that write a balanced piece too but, during these past few weeks I have hit a tipping point.

I'm fed up of our club accepting the boo boy tag status for the club and players and no longer have the appetite to accept the rationale for city's approach to the media.

Having players bood by Australian / Liverpool supporters is a step too far for me. I can't accept it anymore!

We are respectable fans with a history that is fluid. We have a fantastic owner, fantastic team and to keep ignoring this bias or, to keep defending our club from Jo blogs in the street from repeating misleading stories is now wearing thin...

Dear Supporter,

Will you help victims of press abuse to get redress?

The independent body set up under the Royal Charter to determine whether press regulators are "Leveson-compliant” wants to hear your views on how it should assess applications it receives. Will you send an email next week calling on them to better protect victims of press abuse and those who make complaints? If so, please just email us and let us know nathan@hackinginquiry.org

This is a hugely important exercise. After the revelations and public outrage that Milly Dowler’s phone had been hacked the Leveson Inquiry recommended that while the press should continue to regulate itself, any regulator they set up should meet some tests to make sure it is independent from the industry and from politicians and is effective for those wanting to make complaints, and in investigating and punishing wrong-doing. The body set up under the Royal Charter to check whether regulators meet those criteria is the Press Recognition Panel (PRP).

A new self-regulator, IMPRESS, which has said that it intends to be Leveson-compliant and will apply for recognition. If IMPRESS’s application is successful, it will be a major step forward in creating a better system of redress for victims of press abuse. The PRP is undertaking a public consultation on how it will assess applications and we would like as many people as possible to contribute.

It’s very quick and easy to submit a comment to the Panel, but the deadline is next Friday 31st July – if are you happy to write in next week, please let us know by replying to us today at nathan@hackinginquiry.org and we will be in touch again next week on how to submit your comment.

Best wishes,

It is frustrating that it continues eight years after the takeover. The narrative softened a bit last season but perhaps that is because we were less of a threat. I do believe a lot of tabloid coverage is driven by the "little Englander" mentality and that it is directed at our owners. People like Mark Saggers on Talksport epitomise this attitude. It does damage our reputation especially in the plastic world occupied by the new breed of football fans who are obsessed with social media.
However we can take a positive from the hatred. Most City fans have always gloried in being an anti-establishment club and the truth is we will never be accepted by most elements in the media. It is essentially commercial bias because United and Liverpool have more fans than us and therefore are of more interest to advertisers. You will note that United advertise heavily on Talksport for example. A lot of sports reporters will deny it but they have always behaved like sheep. They are not regarded as proper journalists by their colleagues in newsrooms because most of them just follow the pack and are sycophants around people like Ferguson.

Adversity will pull us fans together and give motivation to the players. Can you imagine how much Sterling is looking forward to the Liverpool match, and, if we sign him, De Bruyne will love putting one over on Maureen.

I know people have said that the club want to get the media on side and they ignore all the shit.
Come on though, let's be realistic, it isn't going to happen is it?
We should just ban them and close the press box.
No other club has to put up with relentless crap like this. And make no mistake, it IS incitement. Do you honestly think Sterling and his family would have received death threats and racist abuse, along with being booed if the media hadn't fanned the flames?
Certainly not to the extent it has anyway.

This, and only this will spark a change in the medias attitude towards us.

We're a soft touch, and they know they can write anything they want about us and get away with it. Do you think they would have gotten away with this shite with Fergie or Mourinho? Not a chance as they'd be put right in their place, something we need to start doing, ASAP.

I remember towards the end of Mancini's reign, in particular James Cooper the lack of respect shown towards Mancini at pressers was disgusting. Fair play to Platt, he treated them how they deserved to be treated at the conferences.

The abuse Sterling is recieving, is all from how the media has spun it. A 20 year old kid, recieving such abuse is a utter disgrace and quite frankly is sickening. At the end of the day what has he done differently to any other player wanting a move to a bigger club?

We get zero recognition in the media, not for our academy, what we've done in the community, what we've achieved and what our players have given to the English game.

It has gotten to the point now where I've genuinely had enough, I hope the club feel the same, it's about time.

I once thought like you until recently but I'm bored of the excuses now. Having sterling receive death threats and booing by foreigners is enough because this has spilled into other continents now and not just in our ickle English bubble. There is always a way to move out of our negative media position and that's what happens in real life and industry when they need to improve their PR.

Just imagine how many more fans we'd have if our image and perception was better?

We will never be seen as winners until the media say so!

I hope nobody is seriously suggesting beating up Journo's(anything so extreme would only serve to give them license to drag the fans through the dirt along with the club and it's owner)... I like the idea of not being as welcoming, let them know everyone knows their agenda, if you know where they sit, boo them and maybe come up with some chants to get under their skin. Having said that do we want them to hate coming to the Etihad that much? I dont think that will have the desired effect(might make them crack and become even more blatant with it).

With the copyright threats they are seemingly going to try and stop people posting their articles and ripping them to shreds, by highlighting every time bullshit was spouted etc(maybe that's got to them? surely that can be challenged as it involves the club this forum is associated with, therefore involves its members too) .

It's tricky really but the best thing to do might be to rise above and focus on positive influence in the right outlets, drown them out with our own voice, be more vocal(in a positive way not just full on anger). It's up to City if they want to start banning or pressing legal action against Journo's who really cross the line.

Well this has been many peoples stance since the takeover and I'm bored of it now. enough is enough mate because this approach has not worked.

For information, I'm not inferring to anything anti media, banning, booing and etc. there are other means to end too. City just need to think outside of the pitch square.

If we did ban them, what are they going to do? Write bad things about us?
What a job eh? Being paid to lie and stir up shit. And when someone does something to expose them, they threaten legal action. Absolute scum.

We've tried 'softly , softly' and that has worked with the brighter sports writers , who have enough credibility and status to write the truth (e.g. Henry Winter)... the vast majority of tabloid hacks are 'on message' to stroke the egos of the plastics, as their sheer numbers (plastics, that is) ensure circulation and clicks...

At the end of the day they know that City are newsworthy and need access for stories (which thay can then twist).... fook em off now ...
we tried the other way.. it didn't work... maybe we ca see how these lizards do without thir hospitality before sticking the knife in...

We need to send a loud chorus of 'The M!rror & Sun can fook off home' , which we did in previous seasons.... furthermore ... spot the hacks on the back row of the southernmost block of the CB Stand..........that's where most of them are typing their bile..............

Sorry it's crude , but subtle has not worked against the lizards...... one thing that the GPC got right was to spot a lizard a mile off and get him banned

Wish there was another way ... but the last years suggest that , in the case of the tabloids, there is not

I would be interested in getting up a concerted message to the club to instigate a ban for the leeches...

first time iv posted because i always felt there was more clever people than me to express my views.
just wanted to show my disgust regarding last few weeks aimed at my club and my fans Manchester city.
the club is big n hard enough to look after itself, but when the media pik on the fans, then it gets me pissed off enough to reply. our fans for me dont deserve any of the press stirring up the hornets nest aimed at us like we are on the run criminals!!!
what have i done to deserve this.i started in the kippax as a young lad with my brother and payed my dues. getting beat 2-1 off wycham wanderers was a low.
we as city fans don't deserve this. and never will. disgusted, salford. up the blues. p.s. all for one, and one for all.ctid

He did an online Q & A session last week and the fat cnut had plenty of sly digs.
Also I clearly stated I wouldn't go as far as banning them.but I'd charge him for all the cakes and doughnuts he eats.

Quite right he did. I posted it at the time but it got lost in other posts. Martin Samuel is no friend of City, and if push comes to shove he'd revert to type as quickly as the other cockroaches that share his 'profession'.

Glad someone else saw it. He's nothing but a bearded slug.

They are not regarded as proper journalists by their colleagues in newsrooms because most of them just follow the pack and are sycophants around people like Ferguson.
Well they're not proper journalists, are they? Any more than the people who write the "what happened in the soaps this week" articles are. Once a year, they get to play at being proper journalists during the transfer window, and they show how shit they are at it.

These wankers should be made to feel worried about turning up at the etihad after the incessant vitriol they spew. I'm sure we could make a list of which of the shysters would sound and look better with a broken jaw. Sure they would also appreciate a few skips and dozens of ornaments from their shitty Sunday supplements as well.

I mean, if somebody spread loads of offensive lies about your family, you wouldn't them them mince into your house for Christmas dinner...time to hit back at these individuals.
Every paper in the Country could print the headline 'Man City are a shit club and we hate them' and not one thing would be done about it, we have already lost the battle with the media, they can trample all over us at will, wouldn't have happened years ago even under Wiggy

18 year old full back Luke shaw to the rags was the best thing to happen to English football, with his £30m price tag and handful of first team appearances (who has since barely played) vs established first team forward and England international raheem sterling with his £44m price tag who will continue being a first team player, being the worst thing to happen to English football if you believe what you're spoon fed in the press.

FFS

It's amazing how many times Sinclair and Rodwell (permanently injured) are used to criticise City in the media and yet the brightest hope for English football a couple of years ago is never mentioned.....Wilfred Zaha's stellar United career???????!!!!!.
