De Bruyne?

So I'm assuming the starting line up will be :
Hart
Zabaleta Kompany Mangala Clichy
Toure Fernandinho
De Bruyne Silva Sterling
Aguero.

If that's the case, how does that address last season's problem of being overrun in midfield? I'm sure that side would batter most teams in the league but against the likes of Chelsea and arsenal (and the top European sides), Toure will have to be either more disciplined in his defensive duties or suddenly be able to run from box to box.
That side is just replacing Nasri /Navas /Milner with Sterling and De Bruyne.
Scoring goals wasn't the problem. Being light in the middle and defensive organisation was.
If we sign Pogba and Sandro then they will start and the the team looks a lot more energetic and solid

It worked at Barca?
It did until Busquets was put there. That's how we got Toure in the first place. He saw his arse and wanted to leave.

Anyway, I'm still of the opinion that De Bruyne (if indeed we ever were interested in signing him) would have been a backup plan incase we didn't get Sterling.

I thought that as well when we were linked to both, if we didn't get one we got the other

I'm confused by this thread, and the Pogba one. Lots and lots of posts, but little from City in the way of bids.........well, confirmed bids that is. Anyway, a gif.......and this one has fuck all to do with the thread!

Hi 2sheikhs....I think it shows the lack of confidence we have in the current wide players.....I also think it shows that City feel players like Silva and Nasri are best used inside and not as wide men.....Sterling and De Bruyne give us the flexibility, pace and direct player we were crying out for all last season....I understand this move...what concerns me is why we havent been looking for a Fernando replacement.....we in trouble if we expecting him to start 20-30 games this season.....

Isn,t Delph the Fernando replacement?

Hi blueparrot...I agree, I was expecting that to be the case but get the feeling he's more of a Fernandinho type player that will push forward...I know we cant go off 18mins of a pre-season game but Pelle had him playing more outside.....think we still need a deep player that plays more of a defensive/holding role....just my opinion!;)

I think Sterling will be left side, Silva right side. When Clichy gets forward, Sterling will drift infield and the same on the other side when Zabaleta gets forward. It'll all be fluid though and not rigid.
If we added De Bruyne, he'd interchange with Silva and Toure would sit back. If we got Pogba, he'd be alongside Fernandinho and Toure would move forward and be between Sterling and Silva.
I'd prefer the latter of the two.

People might laugh but I think fernando is made for that role I think if we play him at the bottom of a 3 we will see a very good player who's been played in his best position!

Hi uwe, I'm no expert mate but my problem with Fernando is that he doesnt have the movement skill-set or the pace to close down..he seems to take bad angles and gets off balance very easy...he runs very straight line and struggles to man mark....He really needs a league where the build up play is slower.....Wish I had your confidence in him mate!;) I just feel we'll spend the whole season covering up the weak link when he's called apon to start and when you add Yaya's style of play and age......we are going to continue to struggle against the best sides in the prem and in the CL....
