A gk s job is not just about passing. Fuc*Ing passes. It s about organizing the defense, being able to control and communicate with players in front of you and, of course, clean sheets. Joe is the best English gk and one of the best in the world, still young and heart and soul for the club. What more could you wish for? I would be very disappointed if Hart is leaving and I would have some serious question marks about the club. It's not just about winning. And I hope we don't start with that sh*t tiki taka passes! I want a little bit of some English style as well: Free kicks straight to the goal, corners, long shots, etc. After all that's why we, people from abroad UK are loving and watching British football and not Spain.

To be fair I'm not suggesting he has recovered from injuries, I think that's been a big part of his recurring problems. What I was getting at is that when he has returned to the team he has still been crucial to our performance, not just making up the numbers.

I agree that we have been rushing him back, this time he has had months to work on the recovery without the added pressure of a key champions league game to be back for. Pep is definitely planning for life without Kompany (and Hart etc), he would he daft not to given Kompany's injury track record. But equally if Kompany can get himself fit and train well I can't see Pep not selecting him. In my opinion it all hinges on Kompany's latest injury comeback and I really hope it works out.

Yes, I agree - didn't mean it to look like I was disagreeing!

Watching a few seconds of Joe in the rondo's in training quickly lets you know what Pep has seen as a huge weakness. Joe is still squaring up like a GK, tbf to him its all he's been taught his whole career, but it will take a hell of a lot of effort to work it out of him. If you're going to be the extra man in a 3 and be able to navigate the ball around potentially 3 attacking opposition, you need more.

It would seem a disgrace to let him go I agree but we don't know what has happened on the training ground or behind closed doors. Maybe he simply doesn't fit Pep's plans as a "sweeper keeper".

Whatever the reason and whether some fans agree or disagree, Pep is the manager and that's what he's paid for I'm afraid.

I think we are going to see a lot of this style to be honest. I think it is all about winning or else we might as well as stuck with Hughes. The winning and the raising the profile is what it is about which is why I think once again, the CL will take priority over the league for the owners.

As for Hart, It will be disappointing as I like him and what he has done for the club. I personally don't think he is one of the best in the world, hasn't improved that much from when he first became a regular and is the next rung down but he has been a good player overall and saved us many times.

I am however happy to see a manager who has a plan and some of the plan might not be universally liked.

It's Pep's way or the highway and this is how it should be.

I'd be delighted if Joe can adapt and continue to improve his all round game so I hope he chooses to stay and fight for his place. He has seen off other keepers before but faces his biggest challenge by far if Bravo rocks up at the Etihad.

I could be wrong. But i'm sure Txiki knew last summer Pep could be our manager soon. I'm sure he took that into account when signing players. Anyway, i don't think Kompany falls into the Toure/Denayer/Hart category. Kompany is fast, good in the air, is good on the ball, and more importantly.....is an intelligent footballer.
You're not wrong in the slightest.

I thought your lot got wiped out by an asteroid 65m years ago.

I cant see Joe just not learning. At some point he has to bite the bullet and play 2nd fiddle for a while, otherwise feckoff to Everton and win nothing~! But I honestly dont think he cannnot learn it, I am not being part of this hate our own players contest.

"Cmon Joe, toe the line ffs!!!! City needs you". Am going to twat him with a tweet

Was Neuer, Bravo or anyone of that type, always a sweeper keeper, or did they develop those skills? Just asking

Always. Keeper's outside the Uk have been taught the importance of using their feet ever since the back pass rule came in.

Some are better than others of course.

Numbers do not lie.

This! Kompany is a leader and the defence with him in it looks so much more assured than it does without him. Aside from Stones, Kompany is also the best ball playing centre back at the club. A leader who is good on the ball, that is an incredible combination.

This is not a Hart scenario, who clearly does not fit the way Pep wants the team to play. This is about Kompany's fitness. I have no doubt that a fully fit Kompany gets in Guardiola's team, however Pep does not have the sentimental or emotional attachment that we do. Kompany has to show him he is fit and can be relied on.

Kompany has come back from injury many times before, but this one is his most important. He is playing for his future at City, there is no doubt about it. A short lived return followed by an injury set back would be catastrophic. Fingers crossed he can come through it and thrive under Pep, but one thing is for sure if it doesn't work out it won't be through lack of effort.
Kompany has the aggression and determination that teams like Arsenal don't have. That is priceless.

I'm hoping to see him back shortly, but he might have some setbacks because he has been out so long. A few niggles wouldn't be unusual.

Have we seriously got a member of this forum who;

1) Believes Pep's style is tiki-taka,
2) Thinks that our defence has been organised over the last two seasons,
3) Chooses this of all summer to say they want a bit of "English style" over the football that Pep will try to implement?

Definitely. Love his measured aggression! Like you say, not many teams have that.

Great question. I struggle to understand why he couldn't develop, and having seen him a lot in games and in warm ups, he seems quite an able footballer. Perhaps he just needs time. We're all capable of learning.

Yes, yes we have.
