Atmosphere at Eastlands

I can understand that a little to a certain extent but to me IMO it is a piss poor excuse. If that is the case then i was right in saying the meeting and this thread was a waste of time as clearly the atmosphere for the big games is ok.

If we get through to play Everton in the quarter finals of the FA Cup, come back and tell me what you think of the atmosphere... yes?

I guarantee you that it will be possibly the best of the season.

I have already said for big games the atmosphere is fine, its for games like today where meetings and long threads discussing how to improve it is a waste of time because the fans in the first place don't give themselves anything to fight for. I can imagine the club today thinking whats the point, where as imagine if the SS actually sung in unison for 90 mins and that in turn would get the other parts of the ground singing, Garry Cook and his mates would be hearing and looking thinking "imagine what this ground could sound like if we gave them what they want"

I think you're blaming the wrong people for the lack of atmosphere.

If the game is exciting, and the fans appereciate the effort being put in, and the club are as one (such as it was in the dark old days)... then the atmosphere will happen naturally.

No point trying to force it. It just doesn't work.

More exciting football... more desire from the players... better atmosphere?

That's my theory anyway...

I'm a Utd fan and went today (took a mates son as he was in hospital), thought today was REALLY quiet considering your position. OT is never rocking for the visit of Fulham, but please tell me that Eastlands isn't normally this quiet?

I got in about ten minutes late so not sure what the build up was like but i have never seen it that quite for a long time no singing just the odd tune, you could even hear the 2 fulham fans who turned up.

It's not normally that quiet but then again unless we are playing in a big game it is not that much better than today. Today was only quiet because there weren't 3,000 away fans to bail us out.

I will probably get called a rag and a twat for this but Old Trafford has more atmosphere than Eastlands and it has nothing to do with an extra 30,000 people.

The club had the opportunity to open up the lower tier of the South Stand for this game. They could have easily put that info out on the OS site, in the MEN, Twitter, Facebook and throughout various other oulets, stating they wanted to see the Kippax and SS come together as one and get behind the team. Fulham is one of those gmes where they never sell out, the lower tier is always available, and the atmosphere is always shocking.

ONCE AGAIN, IF THE PEOPLE RUNNING CITY REALLY WANTED IT TO HAPPEN, THEY COULD HAVE ORGANIZED IT AND DONE IT.

I've said on some of the previous threads on the subject, getting a full end will make, at best, marginal difference to the atmosphere. If people are in the mood to sing they'll sing, if they're not they won't.

The team will always get the crowd going and if they don't like today, the atmosphere will always struggle.

People can go on about Aris and Poznan fans as much as they want, this is England, all seater stadiums with much stricter stewarding and policing than they will ever have in Greece or Poland and that's without mentioning the cost of going to a game in this country.

The team were shit today and to try to blame fans for that is desperate imo.

Until City give us the opportunity, we will never find out. Today was the perfect opportunity. Advertise it as a fans get together, move the concorse barriers, let the fans pick a seat in the away end, and let the Kippax blocks and the SS come toegther for one game. It could have been done and at least worth a try.

Instead city sell 200 seats(?) in the away end, leave two away blocks empty, and the atmosphere was rubbish.

PS. Nobody is blaming the fans. But some more vocal support and a packed carnival atmosphere in the whole of the lower SS from the off, may have made all the difference.
