As a local resident We have been invited to go and watch the main Bridge span being put in place this Sat night at 11 pm.

I'm giving it a miss though with an early start to Wembley the following day.

If your into watching this type of construction then this might be for you.

It was mooted a while back that there would be a webcam so people could follow what is going on.

Disappointed that that did not materialise.

Took the opportunity to talk to a BAM supervisor yesterday evening and he confirmed this. Given a good run and the lack of high winds and they were hoping to have it finished by around 05.30am on the sunday morning. So, if you are setting off for Wembley from the ground (Thomas Cook coaches?) sunday morning you might just be driving under the new bridge span. Alternatively the road might still be closed and there will be diversions in place.

Spotted it from the tram as I was on my way home so leapt off at Velopark and took a few snaps. Good timing just as the sun came out..!

Note the pulley on the left sling on the first photo - obviously to adjust the angle of the dangle before they lower it. I worked with cranes for 16 years (Safe Load Indicators) and never come across that before.

Anyone else spot the former City player in one of the stills just before they go to the Etihad section of the vid?
