Why when asked if he would veto any proposal to admit Turkey into the EU could he not say yes?

He told the truth BigJoe! He wouldn't be about in decades ahead when any vote would take pace.

Dave answered the hypothetical question about a vote now and he said he would vote Turkey down!

On the contrary.... He said the British public were not capable of understanding the arguements put forward by the experts... It was too complicated apparently! That was a vote winner for sure!
He's right. A huge amount of the British public are not capable of understanding the arguments put forward. The audience admitted (woman in glasses said it and got an applause) that themselves and then reinforced that by talking rubbish - bar two audience members who spoke - for 45minutes

Where the fuck did they get that audience from?

I am sure you are affected by immigration, amd all the factors in this referendum but I was just saying they didn't exactly get a wide ranging audience of the british isles

Haha!

It was white middle age / older people for anyone who missed it. Absolute pisstake!

He didn't get slaughtered though. The feedback questions from the audience were almost all quite low intelligent uninformed and pointless and he just laughed off some of them and ignored others. I thought he spoke well. Dimbleby had him on a couple of things but they weren't actually important enough points to make Cameron's argument a lose.

And it's not like I like the man

i agree....I'm not his biggest fan either and Cameron normally doesnt do well in these question times but I actually think, thats the first time I've seen him get fired up in this whole debate and it was good to see a bit of passion in his beliefs. To be honest this vote isnt about Cameron, Boris, Gove or anyone else...I just believe Cameron is right in this case and before anyone asks...No, I didnt vote for Cameron in the last election!....would I risk economy based on the fact that 5% of the population today is from Europe? NO! Would I risk the economy, jobs etc because turkey might join EU in 30-40years? NO!.....I honestly believe we can do more harm to oursleves than any EU regulation could never....

That's exactly how I feel.

I live in the south east and have been at the postal vote turnout counts, they do not officially count the leave remain votes they simply place the votes in stacks of 50 and then place them all in the ballot box sealed. However of course, as you are watching the counters organize the ballot papers, you can see what box's are ticked, lets just say i was extremely surprised at strength of the X's next to leave.
Surley you could see the depth of the piles of votes in 50's? It's dead easy to count in 50's. So how do you think the postal votes stack up?

You've summed up your first sentence beautifully.

I'm sure Nigeria would vote to join as well.

Do you wonder why?

There no shortage of Nigerian traffic wardens in London so let's start with immigration from outside the EU!

Can't belive your average unemployed cockney isn't skillled enough to be a traffic warden!

Cameron ducked the Turkey question. Why if they are not going to join soon are we sending huge sums to fund their progress. Truth is its a bribe to get them to stem Syrian refugees so why wouldn't he say so. Disingenuous.

Hi mate.....I think he did answer that question....He said he wouldnt be around when turkey get the option to join in 30-40years and that it would be someone else's decision in governemnt at that time...I also got the feeling if it happened now, he would say no!....He seemed frustrated that people would even use this as an argument for voting out as just isnt going to happen....(what confuses me is that I heard a debate earlier today when Boris (who supports leaving) say he does support Turkey joining the EU...seems a bit upside down!;)

Nah mate. Tony said you can't get a job unless it's inside the EU. Which is why he bollocked Gelson for denying his children the same opportunities he had, to work inside the EU (in Switzerland).

As I say, big fan of economic migration. If people lose jobs to those that have moved 1,000 miles to a strange country then they need to look at themselves. Not those coming to do the jobs they see as below them.

Or to maybe ask them to stop buying ISIS Oil.

Turkey is a scummy fucking country. A national newspaper leading with "50 perverts killed in a bar" after the Orlando shooting sums up their modern utopia.

He could have said. If there was a proposal to admit Turkey I will veto it if I'm in office... It wouldn't have been too difficult to say. He could even have said beyond that I cannot comment but I would hope our government would honour this commitment. Simple really eh?

BTW, Boris said three years ago he'd support Turkey joining when there were lots of promises made, time has moved on and those promises haven't delivered. Glad to see there are politicians that are not stuck in their ways and prepared to change with the times. Refreshing isn't it?

I don't think he ducked the Turkey question but there is truth in what you say about the £1 billion. In fact the vast majority of our foreign aid budget goes in support of our strategic objectives and this has always been the case.

I think Dave is fed up of being asked about Turkey when they are a million miles away from joining the EU

He had a chance to put this to bed once and for all.... I'd be asking why he never took that chance.
