Think the basa is imported catfish tastes shiteHate it when the fish is Basa.
Went in Mr Macs on Lightbowne rd a couple of times late last season on the way into the match
First time, fantastic, pie in the warmer rather than microwaved and fresh chips...really really nice.
Second time, pie still great but fucking re-fried/ last nights chip, truly horrible. If any chippy flogs old chips they should warn you and do them on the cheap as well.
Thought I'd found somewhere nice for a quick chippy tea on the way to the game for next season...I'll need to find somewhere else. Went from 10/10 to 2/10.
I had butter pan fried turbot and potato gratin with sautéed leeks on Friday. That’s almost fish and chips.
I found a pub off Cathedral Square in Christchurch that served probably the best meat pies ever. Went there nearly every day in the month i was there, on my last day they gave it to me for free. Long time ago and still remember it. One of the reasons i sometimes wish I'd stayed, one of the others was called Lynda, also tasty.Just about to derail the thread.
Best F & C in the world without a shadow of a doubt are made in New Zealand. Always, and I mean always, made fresh for you. You walk in tell them what you want and it is made individually for you. Yes you have to wait but they are always wonderful. I think they always use a beer batter for the fish. Always real chips.
It is a very strange country because we have been in some very nice restaurants and they tend to give you cooked frozen chips. Most odd.
If you have never been then you should try to go to NZ at least once in your life. They are renowned for their pies. I swear you have never seen as many different pies as they have in their pie shops: must be at least 30 different types.
Tizer premier cru...the '68.Washed down with Tizer?
Kumara chips in New Zealand, surely?Just about to derail the thread.

Good choice - the Wee Chippy just down the road is pretty good too.Best fish and chip shop ever - Anstruther Fish Bar in Fife. Won many awards and queues do form half an hour before opening. Tom Hanks and Sean Connery were frequent visitors.
Wouldnt go near a place that serves Basa.Hate it when the fish is Basa.
For the uninitiated, that is their sweet potato and yes they are yummy.Kumara chips in New Zealand, surely?
Is Maine Road chippy any good ?The hardest decision on match day is do I stop at Tony’s Chippy Ancoats or Maine Road Chippy across from the stadium
