Have many of our “fans” become entitled?

I was disappointed with Sunday's result but I was out and about on Monday with one of my City shirts on. It's enough for me for City to exist. I have already seen us win more than my most optimistic dreams. I think being a Stretford Blue, sticking up for our Club on a daily basis is part of my DNA.

Blues support our great Club in their own ways. I don't agree that wider social media is worse than on here. There's a share of people on here who use their anonymity to target fellow Blues. It's better to focus our energies on getting behind the lads. I feel there are going to be a lot of close games which we can win if we have the 12th man.
Great post. We have a great loyal fanbase with a small section of entitled wankers.

It's not about entitlement, I have watched us been beaten by stockport at home etc, went to play off final, been there and seen it all, we became a better run club and team, we started to win trophies, seen more in ky lifetime than I ever thought I would see, cried my eyes out at agueros goal, rodri champs league final the same, as i did when dickov scored the equaliser at Wembley, the structure of the club has moved massively since Wembley 1999, but last 2 seasons we have become predictable, teams know how to set up and beat us, Brighton have done it 2 out 2 after going behind, its not entitlement, it's the stubborn manager, no doubt, he has given us more than we ever could have dreamed of, but maybe he has come to the end, won't change his philosophy or way of playing, the teams that are doing well are shifting the ball from back.to front with pace, we still take 2 weeks to.put a ball In the box

People equate legitimate and valid criticism with "entitlement".

With the standards we set between 2017 and 2023, I think we're entitled to expect the highest standards, and are equally entitled to criticise when we fall below those standards. That 2023 Treble winning team was (according to the Club elo rankings) the best in PL history. Of course we aren't going to win every game and every trophy, but the standard we're currently setting simply isn't good enough.

I’m convinced it’s mostly an age thing
Back in my Maine road days I would celebrate wins like a cup final knowing the following week we would probably get twatted by some mediocre team, it was just the way it was back then.
I can remember checking the tables in the pink on the way home counting how many points we’d need to avoid the drop and it would only be 5 games in. Being surrounded by rags constantly ripping the shit out of us
Even when we were two divisions down actually made me immune to disappointment.i rarely read threads from start to finish bar the odd transfer thread
And maybe a good section of the matchday thread if I can’t make the game.
I’ve a rag brother in law who posts shite on ragcafe so had a wander over to see what bollocks he’s posted this week and as expected the bluemoon in meltdown thread has surfaced after a long break.
I couldn’t believe what some of the people on here Have posted on our post match thread. some of the comments you’d swear were written by infiltrated rags.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve had my share of rants after defeats but never at “pep should be sacked at half time” levels.
I can’t believe for a second that anyone of us that witnessed the dross that was served up back in the day would write such vitriol
Against the club/players and more often than not pep himself it’s fucking embarrassing and I hope to fuck he never browses this forum.

They got old.

Remember Rodri Dias and Erling were the final additions to a core that had been put there much earlier.

Now those 3 are the mainstays and KDB/ Gundo/Grealish/ Bernardo/ Eddie/ Walker/ Ake/ Akanji are all gone or about to leave.

That's quite a tall order to replace with a like for like especially when top players we want refuse to come anywhere near our club because of 115.

You can blame the front office all you want, you can blame the club all you want but until that 115 is gone.. things will not change. It's a hatchet job and it's done it's damage.. Jude is in Madrid, Rice is in London and Wirtz is at Liverpool.

It was never about money.. it was about trust and we're not trusted enough till it's over!

If we get fucked and it's truly over.. I'm thankful for the last hurrah where we won our 10th league title because at least we dominated a decade of footy in England and we have the titles to prove it!

No City fan should slate City fans for slating the club.
We are all part of the club community and shouldn't be attacked for voicing opinion, no matter if they weren't at York away or didn't do the hard yards decades ago.
Times change and people do too.

A lot has been said about "entitlement" on here. But I call bollocks on that. Fans become accustomed to current environments, and we have become what we ALL always wanted.... a mighty winning machine.
Now that machine is wobbling for 12 months, some have concerns about it. Its natural.
Do we all remember when rags were the winning machine? Then they started losing out on playing targets, then performances dropped, then they became shite, even with billions invested.
Some are concerned it could happen to us. And it is a valid concern. Our guru manager is coming to the twilight of his time with us and changes are happening in key suit positions.
We absolutely cannot mess stuff up cos it's a long way back.
So DEMAND better from the club, and ourselves in our support, when it matters during the games.
And moan like fuck if stuff is looking iffy, cos if we don't, who will?

Entitled to what? An expectation to win every game or moralise to other blues in a self righteous manner whilst being dismissive of other people's point of view? Both types are annoying in equal measure.

My daughter, born in 2011 and a proper Blue, said to me after the last game: “I can’t stand another season like that. I miss the days of prime City.”

Had to sit her down and give her the York Away speech.

We are very used to winning.
For some, it is all they have known since childhood.
In the social media age, people pour their grief and anger out in the public domain.
Some are stirred, some rebel, some explain, some get on with it, and some seek attention from it.
All of us fit in to one of those categories.

Some are condemnatory of the players, some of the manager, and some tell us everything is okay.
Most will put their feelings aside and cheer the team.

Back in the day (most of my life) nobody other than your immediate circle would know how you were feeling. Now, everyone knows.

One thing I am sure of is that we are not as patient about player development as we may once have been. I suppose that our success has raised standards to such an extent that we are generally less forgiving.

My lad (24) sent me 'poor reaction to the pen', 'let the game happen to us', 'on to the next'. He has it right, but when Dzeko hit that equaliser, I have never seen an eleven year old scream, shout and leg it with such utter joy.

I don’t mind watching us lose it’s the going down without a whimper that bothers me and if we lose another derby 1-0 or 2-1 after being 1-0 up I will be absolutely fuming. Fight to the end

Progress isn't always linear, which is why no team had ever won 4 titles in a row before we did it 15 months ago. At some point even the greatest teams have to take a step backwards to take a step forwards.

The thing that is funny/ironic/sad (delete as you see fit) is that the 'critique' seems to be aimed solely at the people who actually masterminded the record breaking 4 in a row titles, the 100 point team, the winning all domestic trophies in a season team.

It's the footballing equivalent of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Thankfully outside in the real world people are much more calm and considered about where the club is and where it's heading on the pitch.

The problem is, that City fans in their early to mid 20s have never known anything else but relative success. They sing about never winning at home, and never winning away, but many of them can’t walk the walk, I’m afraid.

This isn't really true I'm afraid. The balance of 'supporters' who are irrationally angry at one poor season is equally weighted between the young who don't know better, and the old guard of miserable cunts who seem to hate everything about City and yet spend their lives talking about City.

That "Barca Boys" thread is a great example. Absolutely delusional old men sat around talking about the management of a billion pound plus football club as if they have any clue what happens at executive level. Some proper Walter Mitty types who think reading a book about flying a plane means they can fly a plane better than F1 pilots. Laughable.

I used to work in bingo. There was always a group of older people who spent their lives in the bingo while complaining about how bad it was, how it was fixed, it wasn't like it was, the prizes were shite, the heating wasn't warm enough, it was too hot, the machines didn't pay out like they used to...substitute the bingo club for the ground and you realise it is just human nature.

100% a human nature thing. I just find it unfortunate that many people of my generation and older try and blame all the ills they see in the world on the young.

I could not agree with you more.

Music - it isn't as good as our day.
Crime - you could leave your door open.
Sociability - everyone knew each other, you could speak to anyone.
Communication - everyone's on their phones these days.
Driving - there's no manners any more.

Back in the day, those same people were moaning.
Back in the day, their grandparents said exactly the same shit, just about different stuff.

We used to have to go and call for our mates to be told that they weren't in.
Now you message to meet at a time and a location - what's worse about that?

My dad has a Ring doorbell, a dashcam, and CCTV all around his house. The day I choose any of that I will be throwing myself off the Orme. So far, years in, the worst he has seen is the window cleaner not doing the backs! He gets a ping on his phone that someone's at his door while he is 30 miles away having lunch with me. His phone is attached to his hearing aids so it is like Quasi Modo's bells going off. He parks outside the window of the restaurant and then gets a crook-lock out. It drives me crackers, but he's 80 and won't change now, that's for sure. He's still having lunch with me so I am grateful for that. I do wish he wouldn't read The Mail and watch GB News though - he is just waiting for disaster because of the shite they feed him.

I haven’t bothered to go on the Barca Boys thread as I sensed it would be bad news. In past seasons we knew most of the moaning would be from posters who hadn’t been to enough games to get a ticket for a high demand away game. Now it might be a crime on here to be from Barcelona.

Loads of good posters and top Blues on here. Loads of other top Blues are staying away.
