Jack Grealish

Yes, mate, you're entitled to believe you're good...and we're entitled to believe we can challenge for top 4 in the near future, and express that belief. I personally don't get into the 'we're massive' dick-swinging' debates, so don't aim that at me, ta! :-) Don't get why you'd be snippy about it. Humble doesn't come into your comment. Football fans, we're all dreamers, aren't we?

I think my reaction was more an accumulative response to a lot of nonsense, imo, that I've read on this thread about Jack, and Villa. United fans on RC were actually a lot more level-headed and 'humble', on the whole, about Jack when he was 'nailed on' to go there last summer, tbh. Guess it's all about expectations.

Reading your thoughts on him and our project, (hate that phrase, tbh :-)) maybe we're both sounding off at the wrong person. :-)

...and, yes, he'd look fantastic in your team. But this summer is not the time, imo, given where Villa are atm and who Jack is as a person.
Grealish signing a long term contract was done with the expectation he would be sold, when is another matter. His value will reduce each year but I can't see him seeing it out until he's 30 and thanks to FFP you've not much chance of breaking into the top 4. Compare values, City's squad would probably be worth north of £700m if the players were sold, Villa, including JG, probably about £250m, the gulf is huge and your wealthy owners are not allowed to subsidise signings to upgrade your squad. I'm sorry but there's no way your Club are breaking into the top 4 with that team, Grealish has to make a decision, is he Matt Le Tissier a one club legend who won Jack or Gareth Barry who jumped ship and won medals (no guarantee btw but a much better chance here than at other clubs).

Well I'm one of the 6 votes who doesn't want Grealish. But to say I don't want him is a tad harsh. He's a good player no doubt, its just that I think he is overhyped a fair bit. Every time I see him play sure there are touches of skill and flair, but most of the time he seems to run into players looking for a foul and ends up on his backside with his hands in the air complaining or appealing to the ref. That was my abiding memory of him when we played Villa in the League Cup Final. He would be a fine addition to most premiership teams, but given the level of talent already in our midfield I cant see how he raises that level that much if any? So if we sign him for say £45-55m then yes go for it, But no way is he worth £100m and anything close to that imo. I understand why those figures are being banded about, He's English and Villa would want as much money as possible, who could blame them.

and what is Le Tissier's legacy? He was a very, very skilful player who scored some amazing goals. Scored over a 100 PL goals for a below average team. Didn't win any medals, pretty much got overlooked by England and never seems to get a mention when PL greats are discussed

Why the lol?
Fuck me people are over rating this lad unlike anything I've ever seen and anybody who thinks he's better than Foden must be on the wum at this point.

I like Grealish a lot and would be happy to see him sign but I'm hearing he will be our second best player and its enough to make you weep.
It's laughable to compare the two in the first place. What's even the point of it? Everyone here is on instant attack right as you mention someone's quality.

Jack grealish, Foden is better
Kane, Haaland is better

Like.. relax. We get it certain people cannot appreciate non-City players. The other page someone mentioned a bunch of Wolves players being better and what not lol. It is laughable. Grealish is a quality player and the only thing most people have against him is his hair or his accent. He's got everything that a Pep player would have to thrive in this side and get better.

Foden is still learning and got some distance to go, doesn't make him any less of a player. But users are treating Foden exactly like Grealish then if we are overrating them beyond their ability. Why are we after Grealish if Foden or whoever is already the answer?

Foden has already proven his worth by becoming one of the most important players in one of the best sides in the world before he hit 21.
His footballing education has been surrounded by and learning from the best players and management in world football.
Of course he's still not finished that education and still has more growing and improving to go but that will just see him ecome the best player in the world over time instead of just one of the best in the league where he is right now.

If we do sign Grealish it'll be because somebody is likely to leave and he's a player who could fit into our squad no problem as a replacement not because Foden is the answer to a question not being asked...
Not thinking Grealish is the second best player in the league doesn't make that person non appreciative of non City players, it just makes that person sane.
Grealish is quality, I'd be happy if he signed but he's not done anything close to warrant the accolades being thrown at him from some quarters.

No but you can bet your bottom dollar he'll definitely improve under Pep's guidance. It's not just about now but how he'll develop further and I think he will do at City.

Foden has a long way to go your quite correct, he will have as many ups as downs, that has to be expected for a young player, but so does Grealish, two decent seasons at Villa does not make him a world beater.

Grealish like Foden very talented but a lot of hard work and improvement is needed.

Agree hence why I think it is pointless to compare. We're after Grealish for a reason after all, they see a player who would benefit the squad providing healthy competition. Don't see any issue with that. Whether it works out, or the move even goes through, no one can predict.

Shit hair and cannot fucking abide the pulling the socks down thing. So, no from me because of those two critical issues.

Leicester is a good example of how to gradually improve recruit the right player and be in contention on top four but after years of this still find it hard to get top four..

Agreed, mate. It's not easy. That's why the Villa owners won't want to lose Jack. It would be massively deflating to the wave of optimism they've built around the club. It's more than just losing his ability on the field.
