Laporte is a good player and he played through the pain barrier to get us over the line last season. Even this year when he’s been frozen out he’s played well when called upon. I hope he gets a decent move if he is to move on.
Red Bull is now a very different company since the death of Mateschitz, run by accountants who want money in the bank, he will be in our shirt and at a very decent price.
The Haaland of CB's !!!
Laporte is a class act , he will have options, decent CB's are hard to find, high class ones are like rocking horse poo.

The lad is a generational talent, I think he will be a very special player.
So just need to agree terms with the club?
Especially how Pep is using his CBs now. He will be a very important signing for the future.

I haven't ever been particularly impressed by Gvardiol but admit I haven't seen that much of him. Seems highly regarded so I'm sure it would be a great signing. We'll need to freshen things up and bring in new players who can help the squad keep its winning mentality and evolve. And he's versatile. Ake's still not completely over injury issues and Laporte will surely leave having been on the sidelines for most of this season.

I doubt you bother agreeing terms with the player if you don't already know what RB want and are willing to get there.
Isnt this guy much more of a laporte than an ake? Ie give him the ball to feet and will do well, but have him 1on1 and you’ll find he cant cope.

Seems normal these days to talk to the player before actually agreeing. Back I. The day that was called tapping up. I know we will have an idea but you can never guarantee anything.
Young and coachable by the best manager there has ever been. We rarely get it wrong, obviously we have done in the past, but if the club want him it’s because he’s a great player.

When we signed Stones, he was poor 1v1, he just used to keep backing off until they were in the box and had scored. He was also prone to giving the ball away in build up trying to force line-breaking passes or getting caught in possession not releasing quick enough, he also lacked strength and could be bullied in the air.
Now he’s the best CB in the world and doesn’t have any of the weaknesses I mentioned above. And more than that, he’s elite at the things he used to be weak at.
So I don’t care if Gvardiol has some weaknesses at 21 years of age. All that matters is he has to tools to work with and an appetite to learn. Pep will do the rest.

Fantastic news if TH is correct. Another brute who can play at the back is just what we need. Some may say we are stacked but if this new system is the way forward we need another good ball playing Cb who is comfortable in multiple positions. Laporte will leave and Ake does still get a few injuries. Plenty of games for everyone, need to plan for the next 5 seasons. Big signing if it happens.
