Keir Starmer

Wrong. Starmer.
Starmer, hey?
Now I'm not one of those who deride anyone for being, male, white, rich, posh and living in North London,
people are not bothered about that, at all, it's only a certain small section of leftists that do, ordinary folk don't.
The problem with Starmer, is he is very much disliked because of his Brexit stance, certainly in the Northern seats
recently won by the Tories, and in 5 years, they will not forget this.
Like Trump in America though, the opposition is fielding very weak candidates, the best ones Labour had have lost their seats.

Long-Bailey to say in a speech tonight that the next Labour leader has to be as comfortable on the picket line as at the despatch box. She will put the unions at the heart of everything and she will back striking workers 'no questions asked'.

Does that seem like a vote magnet to you?

Edit: the vote magnet question is referring to the general electorate & not Momentum activists.

Has to be Nandy , simply because she can win back seats in the north and isn't as extreme and deluded as the rest.

Starmers team reported by Labour of a Data breach.

The left must be worried he might actually win this race.

Momentum and McCluskey will come up with many a dirty trick in the coming weeks - they’ve got a poor candidate who could end up third.... but there will be lots of stunts before we get to April.

Yep. The Marxist wing of the party must be getting worried.
They needn't be. Mr Remain is as popular as Corbyn with Brexit voters whi used to vote Labour. Like RLB he will crash and burn at an election. Probably not quite as badly as RLB though.

Long-Bailey has had to apologise for saying that a constituent of hers had gone from being ‘practically a vegetable’ to ‘having some hope for the future’.

She now claims she meant to say ‘in a vegetative state’ but as she is thick as pig shit I highly doubt she meant to say that at all.
Calling them vegetables has been around since i started in the NHS in 79,she should own it if that is what she meant

This is the problem, each and every candidate is not the right fit, Starmer won't be forgotten in 5 years by
Northern voters, RLB is just Corbyn without the tackle, Thornberry is just a patronising, smug, hypocrite.
They have totally misread the electorate, yet again, and will not be in power for years.

‘State of vegetation’ is probably what she meant which is used by professionals. She’s used ‘vegetable’ because that’s what a lot of people use, without trying to be offensive.

It’s painfully unimportant.

If you are a frothing brexiteer then none of them are going to appeal to you. But don't forget that EU supporting parties held the majority share of the vote in the last EU elections and the general election, the issue for Labour was that they had an awful leader and no clear way out of the brexit mess at that time. That will be different in 5 years. And we will just have to see how much of a vote winner brexit will be next time? BJ already banning the use of the word gives you a clue.

Doubt there will be many voting in 2025 on whether someone was for or against brexit 5 years previously.Think we will have other issues to vote on.

I keep hearing this rubbish.

How do you know that the majority of voters voted purely on Brexit?

Not saying they did - the rubbish i hear is that Tories won on a pro brexit ticket and therefore only pro brexit parties will ever win an election in future. Brexit will be a non issue for tories at the next GE, already a banned word, the only issue is what policy Labour take but they don't have to make it an issue if they don't want to.

The key issue for BoJo is he has already backtracked on the majority of his campaign pledges - remember 40 new hospitals? 20k more police? He will fail to deliver all of this and will do nothing for teh northern towns that supported him. He wont have brexit to bang on about. It looks pretty thin already.

I tend to agree. I thought it would hold him back but now I think it will be water under the bridge for most in 5 years time.

I often wonder whether they want to be in power, 'cos they will find that power comes with a country-load of responsibility, and it will be that that will scare them shitless. They would, I feel, to be in opposition where their rantings, ravings, and general sniping can't do much damage but gets a BBC news bulletin full of publicity.
