Allegedly some woman walking round asking people if they had her new daughter and a yacht 'disappearing'. Most probably bullshit.

1. She's with a new family with no recollection of who she was.
2. She was put into Human trafficking and will never be seen again.
3. She's dead.
Either one, I still think the parents should be brought up on as many charges as possible.

No, you were not watching that programme. You would not write your prejudiced views if you had.
It is a shame the press took the line they did, as the press could have helped the family try and find their daughter, but they chose a different line, one which portrayed the McCanns as the family from hell, where opinion in the Portugese press was reported as fact in Britain, where lie after downright lie was written about them.
Like I wrote, watch their interview with the parliamentary committee. You may have read in some paper they were drunk and had abandoned their daughters, but that is not a fact. It was wild reporting in the papers, and as Gerry McCann said, 'I was told having Maddie as the headline increased circulation by at least 100,000 copies'.
All they want to do is find their daughter, and the way they have been portrayed in the press has hampered their efforts.
They successfully sued a national newspaper for reporting rubbish, and that money is now helping them towards their goal of finding their daughter.
They are not bad people, they are an ordinary family who went on holiday, found themselves in the spotlight, and that spotlight illuminated the wrong areas.

The fact that one or two newspapers went against this line and published an alternative view that perhaps went too far the other way should in no way mask the disgraceful stance of all the other publications.
I can't believe the McCanns can even begin to criticise the media coverage - so much of it was not only in their favour but they also gained unprecedented publicity in the search for their daughter, while at the same time burying all other media coverage of any other kids that went missing at the same time.
As for them not being bad people, do you know them personally? They might well be nice people who were guilty of a horrendous mistake and no more, but then again they might be guilty of a whole lot more. As someone else has already stated on here, the fact that someone is a doctor doesn't make them perfect, although I'm guessing we'll never find out the true depth of the McCann's involvement in all this.

Don't think he really needs to though i'd be far from surprised if those kids didn't fall asleep to a lullaby that night.

I'm with you on this one TMQTheMightyQuinn said:Kid goes missing.
Kids parents then go on world tour promoting the idea we should all get our kids chipped like we do dogs.
I'm no conspiracy theorist but as my American mate once said 'you do the math'.

It was pretty transparent, the whole thing was.
Llewellyn Dowd said:Brooklands, do you think the McCanns are blameless?

Same thing with Timothy McVeigh in America in the mid 90's. At the time the Clinton regime wanted to install more cctv cameras in public places but were facing stiff opposition from people who didn't want to be on film 24 hours a day.
Luckily, for the government, some 'lone' psychopath from an imaginary 'white supremacist' group (white supremacists were the bogey men before the press gave us Muslim terrorists) decided to bomb a government building, the press whipped the people into a frenzy, people were guided to believe cctv would have stopped this crime, a week or so later the Clinton regime installed shit loads of cameras minus any public out cry.

Do you think they don't ask themselves the same question?
Can any of us even imagine what they have gone through?
None of us can, because none of us know what actually happened. At best, they are guilty of abandoning their three children for a night out with friends. At worst, they know more than they're telling.mackenzie said:Llewellyn Dowd said:Brooklands, do you think the McCanns are blameless?

Depends if they are guilty or not doesn't it!
