1. She's with a new family with no recollection of who she was.
2. She was put into Human trafficking and will never be seen again.
3. She's dead.

Saw that. At least the one where a self serving McCann still couldn't accept how mind numbingly stupid and criminally irresponsible he and his wife were abandoning their kids to go on the piss.

No, you were not watching that programme. You would not write your prejudiced views if you had.

It is a shame the press took the line they did, as the press could have helped the family try and find their daughter, but they chose a different line, one which portrayed the McCanns as the family from hell, where opinion in the Portugese press was reported as fact in Britain, where lie after downright lie was written about them.

Like I wrote, watch their interview with the parliamentary committee. You may have read in some paper they were drunk and had abandoned their daughters, but that is not a fact. It was wild reporting in the papers, and as Gerry McCann said, 'I was told having Maddie as the headline increased circulation by at least 100,000 copies'.

All they want to do is find their daughter, and the way they have been portrayed in the press has hampered their efforts.

They successfully sued a national newspaper for reporting rubbish, and that money is now helping them towards their goal of finding their daughter.

They are not bad people, they are an ordinary family who went on holiday, found themselves in the spotlight, and that spotlight illuminated the wrong areas.

Hold on a sec - unless my mind is playing tricks with me, the vast majority of British press coverage was fully supportive of the McCanns; so much so that many newspapers were happy to paint the parents as fine upstanding members of the community while at the same time spouting vitriolic abuse about the Portuguese police investigation that at best bordered on Xenophobic and at worst was downright fucking racist. The fact that one or two newspapers went against this line and published an alternative view that perhaps went too far the other way should in no way mask the disgraceful stance of all the other publications.

I can't believe the McCanns can even begin to criticise the media coverage - so much of it was not only in their favour but they also gained unprecedented publicity in the search for their daughter, while at the same time burying all other media coverage of any other kids that went missing at the same time.

As for them not being bad people, do you know them personally? They might well be nice people who were guilty of a horrendous mistake and no more, but then again they might be guilty of a whole lot more. As someone else has already stated on here, the fact that someone is a doctor doesn't make them perfect, although I'm guessing we'll never find out the true depth of the McCann's involvement in all this.

I don't need to elaborate and I don't need to be very careful because I'm not accusing them of anything more than neglect as things stand. The point I'm making is that this case remains unsolved and at one point, rightly or wrongly, the McCanns were suspects but until anything new and concrete comes to light the whole thing will remain a mystery and as such it's impossible to know exactly how much, if anything, they had to do with it. In other words I'm keeping an open mind.

None of us can, because none of us know what actually happened. At best, they are guilty of abandoning their three children for a night out with friends. At worst, they know more than they're telling.
One thing that always plays on my mind about this case is, why did Mrs. McCann wash her daughter's favourite cuddly toy? She's an intelligent person, surely she realised that substances found on that toy could have proven to be vital evidence? And wouldn't she want to preserve any scent of her daughter that the toy had on it? Unless it contained damning evidence of course.
