Pep likes to use lopsided 433, so 2 attacking fullbacks aren't necessarily needed. Remember Abidal and Alves. Mendy/Chilwell and Walker/AWB could become such pair.
 
@FCBarca mentioned in the Griezmann thread, reports De Ligt may have "had his head turned by Liverpool"?

IMO this may have been part of the reason Rick Parry/NY Times started the pre-mature rumour of a possible CL ban for us. If he wants to try the PL you imagine its either us or Liverpool favourites? City our adamant we haven't breached FFP but rumours are damaging.

I can’t see De Ligt signing for us as long as he’s associated with Mino Raiola. I’ll be very surprised if he ends up anywhere other than Barca.

Liverpool have proved with VVD and Alison they will just pay the fee, if he's the man they need, whatever the cost. De Ligt looks the "real deal". Our policy seems to be to convince the player to come for the project, rejecting other clubs and hopefully pay a reduced fee.

To be fair, we do pay the fee too. Just not every time. Ederson, Laporte, Mahrez, Walker, Mendy all come to mind
