North Stand Construction Discussion

I never realised that the food & beverage outlets under the hotel were so extensive. Do they all look accessible to fans on matchday?

Forgive me but why would they produce such a big food and drink ( multi company )outlet and not have it fully available on match days ?? I could possibly believe some of the smaller outlets not being open on non match days though I suspect part of the lease will include 7 day opening :-)

Is this the ground floor layout in the hotel?
It is the GF layout, but this is all public and third party F&B and independent of the hotel. Open to all. The hotel's breakfast and dining spaces start on the first floor, they only have the entrance up to it on the GF, from the rear in purple.

I have been mentioning the extent of the f&b and how much revenue (and offering) that is just on its own. Someone did say one unit was promised to a local business, which sounds great as usually these turn out to be chain outlets. Which is not a bad thing btw, still great offerings of choice, juat not particularly unique which is what you'd want at least some of to make it a destination on non match days.

I would imagine that match days will be the only opportunity for the outlets to make a profit.

Not necessarily. People will want to get food before a gig/show at the arena. People will do tours of the stadium. Staff at the offices and hotel, guests of the hotel, etc. There are plenty about that could use the food outlets outwith match days.

With it being split into 3 distinct and independent areas I wasn't sure of the one on the east side of the hotel especially.

It’s difficult to judge how many outlets they’ll be from the plan posted, and how scalable they’ll be on non-match days and so on.

But at the very least I would think that the rent City charge on these units would be heavily influenced by the expected demand on match days. The club seems quite good at extracting every last penny, so I wouldn’t expect it to be that different with these outlets.

I'd expect some sort of Cafe as part of the museum and shop would be open daily, plus there will be something in the hotel open to the public, probably a restaurant and a coffee shop. Wasn't there also supposed to be seating and food outlets by the arena /canal?

I hate appearing on them, do it occasionally but not very often. I don’t even like doing the commentary, if I watch it back I always have the sound down
I think you have the advantage of people feeding you info on points you admit you don't know about. Mr Drone would have been much better if he'd kept his comments objective and did a bit of research first, but who am I to criticise?
