Oasis reunion

I'm going over with my daughter next Sunday. She's 13 and absolutely mad into Oasis. My mum and dads house is 5mins from heaton park so we're either going to sit in my mums garden and see if we can hear it ok or go and park around Parrentorn and Heywood road next to the reservoir.

We went last night with no intention of paying the £400 each to get in ,more than happy to listen sat down by the lake ,had a fantastic night with £400 sound ,
Going again next week bought a £10;t shirt on way home sorted, £780 towards a holiday and a great night out .:+)

Going to do the same next weekend, probably next Sunday, just sit in the park and enjoy it.

I love threads like this.
They show up that peculiarly British, and wholly unlikeable, trait of being contrary and obtuse for the sake of it. As if it somehow validates one’s own feeling of self worth.
You can predict it like the phases of the moon. A group of people contribute to a thread to celebrate the reunion of the biggest British rock band for generations, happily post how happy they are at the news, and generally just celebrate a wonderful piece of news, and as sure as eggs is eggs, the thread is quickly hijacked by the ‘too cool for school’ crowd.

“Oasis are shit”, “not what they were” etc etc.

It doesn’t make you look nuanced and sophisticated. It makes you look like a miserable ****.
Yep, same with the Glastonbury thread, just slagging off thousands of people having a good time and doing no one any harm. Sad cunts.

Would tell anyone that didn't get tickets to go down and listen it's proper chilled outside have a picnic and take a few drinks ,plenty of spots to sit down and relax :+)
Also don't think about jibbing in or no point in even asking a tout how much ?

Some lad I worked with who is a mad Oasis fan and missed out on a ticket said he managed to jib it last night so it can be done. Obviously wouldn't recommend we aren't scouse! Will have probably patched up the weak link that let them in for tonight's show anyway.

Booked my cab to the Ostrich for 2pm Wednesday and ordered the return to Polefield Road afterwards, hopefully goes smoothly. Thanks to all who shared advice. I'll be in my Cherki shirt in the Ostrich if anyone wants to say Hi !

I think you want to be either inside the park, or on the Bury Old Road side. We're very near the park in a better direction that up by the reservoir, with no houses in between us and the stage, and it's like a radio on in someone's garden nearby. You can tell what song is playing, but it's not much more than that.

When they played last time, I was in a house on Heywood Road, but down near the metrolink. That was so loud that you could hear every word they spoke on stage. All the concerts in the park have been a LOT quieter since then.

That's easier said than do in regards to memories. I have absolutely zero recollection of seeing Oasis at the Etihad. I don't remember even being there. I had it in my head that that the stage was at the opposite side of the ground and I was wrong about that.
Ha ha. True- but that’s still your memory of it!!

There was around 800 fans expected in the rear beergarden of that pub opposite the park .. the Ostrich ...... there was that many fans expected there that they presented that Granada Reports programme from there last night, and Holts had to 'ship' staff from other Holts pubs in to help!

Ian brown might have been a shambles. But, there is absolutely no way on this earth that John Squire was a better guitarist in 1988 than he was in 2015. Same with Mani.
The Saturday at Heaton Park was great as you could not hear Ian Brown.
You can hardly say the Roses were better in 2015 by excluding the lead singer!
Squire and Mani were both superb in ‘88 and ‘15.
As was Reni.
I’ve seen Ian brown solo: superb at the Apollo and Llandudno where it was small intimate setting. But I also saw him with Roses at the Apollo and he was dire.
Those were heady days the late ‘80s. Roses Mondays Inspirals regularly gigging locally and with great support acts.

A thousand in the welcome just down the road.
