PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

If these new rules were in place when we first agreed our 10 year deal with Etihad I'm guessing it wouldn't have been approved.

The deal may have looked generous to us at the time but proved excellent value to Etihad.

And that is the problem with these new rules. It's trying to limit sponsorship to a current fair value, whereas sponsorships are a commitment to deliver value and mutual growth over a longer term. Unless you are United and the sponsors all run away after a couple of years. The whole concept is ridiculous and will be challenged in court, I imagine, the first time a sponsorship is refused by the PL.

I genuinely believe they all want rid of the bad Muslim. He don’t belong here, we made the league and he is not good for sport in England. We need to save the league from this awful person who creates jobs, pumps millions into the economy and regenerates run down areas all o while making blue dreams come true. Nah he is not one of us Daniel. Don’t belong here!

Ok we will create loads of rules to chase him out. The corruption between certain clubs is disgusting.

Quite simply fair value will never work because no outside entity can determine the value, the market decides the value and it was always thus, its like ford telling ferrari they need to reduce the price of their cars because they dont represent good value and it isnt fair but the reality is what someone is prepared to pay determines the value of something not what someone says it is worth.

Take the netflix documentary, now in football a 7 figure sum isnt a round of drinks so in monetary terms it looks terrible value for us but in terms of exposure it has massive value and that cant be put on the books or described in monetary terms so the people who are supposedly deciding these deals have literally no way of determining what a fair market value is, the value of a genuine world superstar and global icon like pep or haaland or kdb being associated with your brand far outweighs the monetary value being put in which in relative terms to the companies we are dealing with is a pittance.

With no official announcement on what is going on with the case. It’s always good to remember what has gone on before.

This is Khaldoon speaking about the uefa case. He has said nothing about the premier but a lot of what he says here can be used as how we view the 115 charges.

I was waiting for him to take off his Rafa(fact)mask…

Then after the charges:

He must have forgotten his Dr Evil costume! He don’t look like a man who has committed grand scale fraud!

I love khaldoon. And like you said he doesn’t look like someone on the swag.

This thread has a great Legal Team.
Without the benefit of any personal legal training I have to say I have learnt more about the legal process by reading various BM threads.

We certainly value your legal opinions as well as your other opinions on none football threads.

The PL isn’t destroying itself, it’s doing exactly how market forces dictate. It’s all in the numbers and if those point to the red shite taking up subscriptions, they are all in.

Is it market forces ? It's not market forces stopping Newcastle from spending as the wish, nor Everton or villa.

If it was market forces and a free market those clubs could spend and wouldnt be in trouble.

The PL is quickly descending into a farce. So if City want to sign Savio from Troyes the PL are going to set the fee? But it’s just internal accounting within the CFG ! What real impact is the PL’s interference really going to have? Other than satisfy the paranoia of the Red Shirts and the N London hangers on. It will be similar with the sponsorship deals the PL will be powerless to stop a Company sponsoring a football club for any reasonable amount.

Well, what a load of bollocks. No organisation, connected to an owner or not, is going to lay bare its commercial sponsorship strategy to an organisation that leaks like a sieve, like the PL. The most they will get is a letter saying the deal is at a fair value to the sponsor and if the PL disapproves it, straight to court to get the whole thing thrown out.

The burden is on the club to show the sponsorship is at fair value? On what planet? The responsibility of any director at any club is to maximise revenues for the benefit of its shareholders. The PL has a problem? They can prove it.

This is just like the way they referee matches. Employ stupid interpretations, then when they are found to be stupid, change them into something more detailed and more stupid. It really is mind-boggling how badly is run the whole organisation.
I think the more contrived the rules have become the more obvious the bias becomes.

Perhaps they realise their time in charge has become time limited and are simply milking the rules as quickly as possible, there again maybe they are still grasping at any rule changes to stop City not realizing our vulnerable period is over and being relatively debt free and being able to continue investment makes City a formidable opponent.

Not that GG, you are exactly right. I’m talking market forces that drive PL decisions on their own regulations which is all based on how much they can bring in as a collective. If the Red tops bring in the most money, that dictates the branding and direction of travel.

It wasn‘t too long ago that the Red tops were floating the idea that they should get ‘more votes’ than others, all because they couldn’t get one of their motions through. Which tells us all how the integrity of the PL really works.

Its another ploy to keep the cartel clubs at the top.

So a big sponsorship deal can/should only apply to the rags/dippers/arsenal because they see themselves as the biggest fish in the pond!! - and all the other clubs are not allowed to receive anything of the like

And should that happen, then the PL on behalf of the these 3 cunts of a club will bring the deal into line and scrutinise it and most likely try and get it seen as not fair value

It really is a disgrace of an organisation in its current format, all to protect the cartel clubs little boys club.

The other clubs owners of the PL need to take a stand, it doesnt matter if there owners do not want to pump money in to challenge - what matters is that as an owner you should have a right to do it if you want to challenge and build the club up

GordEn?

If the sponsor themself is happy / willing to pay whatever the amount is, surely it follows that the sponsor sees it as “fair value”?
Yesterday, somebody paid £25k for the shirt Colin Firth wore in Price and Predjudice, is that " fair value " ? Most people would say no but the person who paid for it would disagree, "fair value" is subjective . The Premier League are making themselves a laughing stock
