Longish time Man City fan ( went to my first match the season before Keegan took us back up) and charter member of the Third Rail - fan club for NYCFC. I'm also head of marketing at our company and I would lick a badger's ballsack to get this kind of press before my team even kicks a ball in anger. Also, what better statement for the quality of your team could you have than the champions of arguably the best league in the world begging to keep one of your players to help them repeat? 90 minute match, folks.

I agree, it's a fantastic testament to the NYCFC project that they are getting a player who will help us lift 3 titles in 4 seasons. They'd be getting a footballing legend and PL champion all rolled into one..

But most of the unhappy few are butt sore chav fans upset that they won't see frank for 11 weeks of the season so why would they care or understand what all this means...assuming of course they have much cognitive function, which is debatable based on some of their posts.

The sad reality is, a lot of these NYCFC fans will genuinely be expecting their team to be challenging for the title in their first year of existence. I'm not sure how you deal with people like that, with those sort of expectations.

Getting old past it players on big money to achieve nothing has been part of the City experience since Pearce was manager. Nah, Buffalo Bill is the guy who has become a legend somehow despite most of his achievements being fictional or severely overrated in difficulty. He had a great image which fit exactly what America was looking for at the time to sum up an entire genre of a popular sport and thus he's remembered as an icon despite there being far more talented and more successful people around him.

Actually I asked if he had ever being announced as going to be there at the first game rather than just "in 2015".

And the answer is no, he was never announced to be there at the first game. Read the small print next time Buzz
