That’s not two chances. Two chances would have been had he allowed Grealish to get the ball and then he either shoots or gets tackled and then brings it back. He brought it back before allowing the advantage to play through, that’s rightfully what annoyed the players so much.

The reason he did it, only he can say. I’m assuming he either didn’t see Grealish at all or didn’t realise it was as good a chance as it was. Either way, he blew too soon to be able to formulate a valid enough opinion on it.

Two chances refers to making a decision and sticking with it.

Which is what IFAB stipulates and what the ref failed to do.

Thats not his decision to make.Thats what linos are for as he had no chance of seeing that anyone from how far back he was.

Doesnt the ref know about VAR anyway it's the linesman that flags off side ;)

Does anyone else remember an incident against Spurs in Pep's first season. Spurs had come back from two down but Raheem was through on goal when Kyle Walker (of all people) gave him an almighty shove in the back. Raheem stumbled forward but before he fell his foot caught the ball, which went dead about 6 yards wide of the post. The ref pointed for a goal kick and denied City a penalty because Raheem had had his shot and wasted it. Very good refs in the PL for many years.

1) It was a terrible decision.

2) The reaction by our players was unacceptable.

Yesterday, the U15 match where I was a lino was halted (& then restarted) because of foul language and allegations of corruption directed at the ref and linesmen by players. It doesn't need to be this way - but I believe that the standard set by the Premier League players cascades to lower levels and junior football. Sadly I'd support sanctions against our players
