Summer Transfers

Why hasn't he played much football this season?
He's at the same club as Ribery, Robben, Müller and Costa, Ancelotti isn't a big believer in rotation and the first two haven't struggled with injuries as much this season. Costa isn't getting much game time either and has been fairly vocal about it.

It's hard to play a large amount of games at Bayern, they're so stacked in the wide positions and the form of Robben means there's only one spot where he can play.

Having said that, I'm not convinced Coman is actually that great, although I'm sure Pep has a better idea than myself having worked with him at Bayern.

hmmm.....negative posts on every page, only joined the end of last year, rag café that boring mate?
Not for nothing, but saying we have better players than Laporte is not negative. It may be wrong, but certainly not negative.

Would be an ideal solution. I'd rather Van Dijk than Laporte this summer to be honest. Maybe Laporte to replace Kolarov next summer?
So you envision is spending over 35 million on a CB in 5 straight summers. That's some serious excessive spending.

Actually Costa had more match time than I would have given him. He was injured at the beginning of the season and since then he was in a fair rotation. But Costa lacks match intelligence and has not shown the form anymore he had in the first two months of his time at Bayern.

But - Ancelotti is no youth fanatic. Kimmich, Coman and Sanches have all gotten too little match time - you can understand it with Sanches as he still has problems to adapt to the system, but Coman was good whenever he played after he got out of the injuries he had beginning of the season and Kimmich was good, too.

In my eyes and after I have seen last season Coman is as good as Sane - less goal hungry but a better assistant. But Sane would not get any minutes with Ancelotti either...

Conan did not look happy against Arsenal. Came in scores 2 goals and didn't celebrate at all. Looked positively pissed off by the whole situation.

I say we put in 50 million for both he and Kimmich.

the coman link i can't see happening. who does he replace ? we aren't gonna drop sterling or sane and he wants game time. id much rather give roberts a chance the spend 50m on what could be a bench warmer

I think they will rotate. And when injury strikes, which it will, we'll still have a 2 legitimate Sprint wingers.

Having 3 and rotating them in the most gruelling league in the world is not only smart, its necessary.

I think there will come a point where we will maybe make signings with an eye on leaving some room for our youth academy players to come through to the first team. I'm not sure what academy Mbappé came from(Monaco's own?) but we surely have one a of the best in the world now and so we'll be the ones making the noise about which players are the ones to watch soon enough. Our U18s have some of the most promising youth players in Europe right now. Maybe some of our signings this summer will be top class late 20s early 30s who have the fitness levels to fit our system, that will also be happy to share game time with a young prospect coming through in the next few years. There's some positions where we might still be buying in their early 20's like left back(unless we have someone in the academy I'm missing) but right back we have Maffeo midfield/attacking midfield we have Diaz and Foden, we have a winger in Sancho and so on. We also have Moreno and Roberts who have plenty of potential themselves, we have quite a lot of players to wait and see on already and should be careful about spending big on a younger player when we might not have to. Some top class short term players would be a smarter move this summer in some positions for me, ones that can genuinely give us a couple of seasons at top level, after that we'll see if we need to spend again or we already have a solution on the books.

but we dont rotate now though. if sterling and sane are fit they play pretty much every game. same with jesus. we play our best player and best team most games, the only time we've rotated really is cup games. i would much rather have sancho or roberts as back ups.
