PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I really can't give a shit about any of this because Sam Lee like every other journalist is just getting steers and nods from people around the club and PL, so we already know he knows nothing, just like everyone else.

Having said that I genuinely can't imagine being so childish you (1) Think having a conversation with 3 anti-City journalists about their point of view means you're an anti-city journalist and (2) Keep a screenshot of it for 5 years to whip out any time he reports something you don't like.

So like every single City fan? There's a reason we get 3,000 page threads every time Pep's contract runs down.

I wish people would just admit they hate him because they found out he grew up a United fan. The mood towards him changed overnight on here when he said that on Ahsan's podcast. Meanwhile everyone outside the City fanbase thinks he's a City mouthpiece that can't be relied on to do anything other than spout the club's line.

If you don't like him don't read his stuff, but don't pretend he's part of some anti-city cabal.
Sam, do you feel that growing up a utd fan has influenced the way you report on City?

100% this and anyone that’s listened to his podcasts “why always us” and “let me talk” for the last five years will know exactly how much Sam is pro-City.
I find this generally to be true.

It’s like booing a City player because he supported United.

It’s also in his interests to keep City fans onside since he is the Athletic’s City correspondent.

At the very least he is nowhere near some of the journalists that actively campaign against City in plain site.

I consider myself to have been educated. Again. I was thinking "complaint" related to the whole complaint of 115/130 alleged breaches, not any particular breach within the complaint. Bloody lawyers :)

So is it likely an appeals panel will reconsider liability and then pass the findings back to the original panel for sanction? Or will the appeals panel consider sanctions themselves? Seems strange (and a little disrespectful) to pass the whole thing round from one to the other like a hot potato .....
Disrespectful, ha. For the Premier League it will be considered within the spirit of the rules. The specific rule is probably number 131, feck City over whenever we can. Spirit of the rules are for them and their shrills to scream about when they are shown to be useless;-)

Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with.

The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.

As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all.

No, we have timeframes indicated by both PL and City.

These will be based on an estimate given by the tribunal.

You can probably be confident the decision has been made and this self imposed deadline is the writing up of the judgement.

Which is going to be long, very long!

There will also be a delay between the result being given to the parties and being announced.

No-one knows if we are in this period or not, outside those involved.

I don’t think we are, but it is possible.

Hence things such as the Pep wink can potentially be relevant, but again we won’t know that until we hear.

Set your expectations for Easter and then anything before is a bonus.

And if we see a statue of Pannick being put up outside the ground, that's another soft signal in the meantime

I know it’s always been the case that the decision would be reached and then the punishment would be for a separate hearing of whatever but the fact the press seemed to ignore this and now seem to be brief about it presumably from the premier league can we read anything into it.

Two thoughts it’s to make everyone less disappointed when we win. O well if city had been found guilty nothing would have happened for another season anyway

Alternate view why brief about punishments if no punishment is coming.

Final thought we cleared on everything bar no cooperation and they are bring up this to again manage expectations of what they can punish us for how strongly

It will just be idle gossip at the football finance conference. Probably just a throwaway line over coffee from someone connected to the PL (or another club director) along the lines of: "We can't say anything but we are always confident." That is enough for a charlatan like Sam Lee to conjure up a speculation piece on his social media feed. This is the way the modern media works. Just the usual bollocks.
Doesn't say what they're confident about though.

If the PL lawyers are quietly confident, why are they talking to Sam Lee or people in his circle? The definition of being quietly confident is keeping this to yourself. Perhaps Sam Lee is hearing voices in the night or he's seen it in his tea leaves LOL.

In the build up to the CAS verdict you couldn't avoid English football writers and their expert legal advisors telling them that City were going to lose. The tone is very different this time round from what I can see. Most people are pretty circumspect about what actually will happen beyond the fact that for the Premier League to prove their case, it'll take some monumental evidence and incredible levels of incompetence from City's board of directors.

I think there are portions of the media that are starting to think. They are thinking that City might just be innocent i suspect. Its only from one or two, and the likes of Jordan not being as one sided, but it seems to be changing. Hopefully they will start to sniff out a story about how the PL have tried to stop one of their clubs being better than their flagship clubs.. I dream though.
