True — the league has to act when suspicions arise to maintain its credibility with the other members and to protect the institution. At the same time, it can’t just pursue cases unless it genuinely believes it can win them, or use the disciplinary process as a weapon.

"Genuinely" as you put it, is a very broad standard with a ton of leeway.

Yes, but if Section 1 is just a re-run of UEFA’s failed Football Leaks case with substantially the same evidence that failed at CAS, it’s hard to see how that would qualify as acting in good faith — or how the League could genuinely believe it can win.

And who is going to hold them accountable if they don't act in good faith?

If City were to bring some sort of claim that this wasn't done in good faith, given the consensus in the court of public opinion in the pundit class, it would just look like sour grapes. And I don't know who is going to stand up for City wihtin the league.

What sort of things happened that weee harassing you ? Perhaps I should know this but was this connected to your work or more being nasty online. I know he blocs people and sometimes gets a bit nasty but I did think he was that bad he blocked me on Twitter for posting criticisms I had seen of him on this thread but he wasn’t abusive.

You’re right — we won’t take the Premier League to the High Court. We’ll move on. No one in the League will officially back us, although some clubs will be very unhappy with the PL for having to foot the legal bills.

But the bottom line is this: in a membership organisation, the governing body should act neutrally, consistently, in good faith, and strictly in accordance with its own rules.

Maybe we need an Independent Football Regulator.

The bold part is some statement. A lot of posters want to play the antagonist. Go against the grain, seed arguments to gain interactions especially on this thread where emotions run high. Normally find it on the socials.

Anyway, it’s boring now zzzzzz. Maybe do us a favour and pack in the bullshit.
