De Bruyne?

People might laugh but I think fernando is made for that role I think if we play him at the bottom of a 3 we will see a very good player who's been played in his best position!

I'm with you, if he's used properly, at the base of a 3 man midfield and has somebody like Dinho/Delph alongside him to provide added legs and pressure on the ball i think he'll be a valuable asset for us. There's better out there but i don't think you need to have somebody world class in that area if you use him correctly and partner him with the right kind of players. i.e not just with Yaya.

This deal is not close then?

It probably would be to the benefit of Fernando but a massive detriment to the team. To accommodate a three we would have to lose an attacking player. I think the fact we have only three strikers currently and there is talk of Dzeko leaving highlights we will play a 4-2-3-1 next year if we capture De Bruyne. That in itself should make us more solid than when playing two out and out strikers. If

I think he can do it but he seems to be a yard of pace off where he needs to be imo. Yet there was a period last season where he seemed to have that pace. Whether he fits in to this City team or not, Fernando is not some kind of fucking mug, like some City fans are making him out to be.

I think he would be fine in a lot of decent teams. It's the wide open style we are trying to learn which is the problem. It's not easy at all.

Fernando is a horses for courses player in my opinion. And we really can't afford to start the season without him. Delph looks like he could be out, fernandinho probably won't be match fit and I can't see zuculini still being here at the start of the season. As much as I would love to see de bruyne and pogba I'm starting to think a left back is a vital signing.

Hi uwe, I'm no expert mate but my problem with Fernando is that he doesnt have the movement skill-set or the pace to close down..he seems to take bad angles and gets off balance very easy...he runs very straight line and struggles to man mark....He really needs a league where the build up play is slower.....Wish I had your confidence in him mate!;) I just feel we'll spend the whole season covering up the weak link when he's called apon to start and when you add Yaya's style of play and age......we are going to continue to struggle against the best sides in the prem and in the CL....

That's why he isn't suited to playing in a 2 and never will be but at the base in a 3 you don't need lightning pace just the abilty to be able to read the game, tackle, and play the easy ball to the ball playing midfielders! He can do that! Garcia was fantastic at it but yet again he was hanged out to dry in a mid 2 just look busquets devoid of pace and would look shit in a 2 but in a 3 he's the world's best!

Hi Neville, I think thats the problem mate.....Our style of play exposes his weaknesses....I'm sure in the right system, Fernando is a solid player and would do great but he doesnt suit our style of play and that puts added pressure on the midfield around him and when you have someone like Yaya who's strength is going forward and not defending...combine these 2 things and it just doesnt work. I agree, he's not a mug but I just dont think he fits what we need and because of out style, teams always going to find the weak link....

Thanks true blue! The problem we have as another poster has put is playing a system that suits all our players for me it's got 2 be a 4-3-3 gives the fullbacks licence to get forward gives yaya legs around him and for me would see silva in his best position in central midfield seeing lots of tne ball it would also give the defence much needed cover when teams are attacking us!

I think it's a much harder job to play that position for City, than it would be for Chelsea for example. People have talked of Shneiderlin etc, waltzing into our team, but I really don't think it's that easy at all. I don't think it will be that easy for Pogba either, I still think we will be looking for the right balance around him if he signs.

slow news day so if anyone interested....here's a link to De Bruyne's top 10 goals. I hadnt seen some of these goals before so just wanted to post if anyone interested.....I think given the chance, this guy will be great in the prem! Lets hope we get some news early next week...

Hi Neville, I agree mate.....feel sorry for anyone thats got to control the deep(holding) areas, as our wide open play put so much pressure on that position! cheers mate!

Not imo. I think it's compiete bollocks.

No it is true. Where's the TOP quality we desperately need? Where's the new left back to replace the substandard pair we currently have? Sterling may turn in to a decent player - emphasis on May - Delph is quota job, tops. A jobber player who fills
In as and where needed but will hardly push us over the top against the big boys.

I see nothing new in our squad that will get us to the business end of the CL, or indeed overhaul Chelsea. We were told top quality would arrive but it hasn't so far. The wait goes on, hence the original point is valid.

Shout it down all you want but we remain a million miles away from the likes of Real, Barca, Bayern et Al.

The middle of the park has been a weakness throughout Manuels time here, but it hidden itself in his first season because the openness meant we scored a fuck load of goals.

4-3-3 will help, massively actually. Even Yaya/Dinho/Delph would give more solidity than last season without signing Pogba.

I was alarmed how we went to pieces when Delph went off against Madrid. And Fernando looked like a much better footballer with someone beside him.
