To be fair, technically he’s right. I read a report a few years ago that stated that a fifth of the UK population was over 65 years of age, predicted to rise to 25% in the next 10 years or so. One also stated that just over half the population was above 45 years old which is the line which they are drawing where there is vulnerability.

However, the appropriate measure of this virus should not be age related but should be assessed as vulnerability. Evidence is suggesting that it’s those that are vulnerable, through personal health reasons, that it affects the most.

Regardless of age or health, everybody has family/friends/colleagues/acquaintances that could succumb to this virus and it has to be a personal choice if you want to live with the thought that you were the unknown killer.

Let’s face it, the government aren’t too worried about the ‘minority’, it’s collateral damage. So why should you?

No economy, no society, no healthcare equals deaths beyond your comprehension We can’t let the economy go to the wall, those in lower risk groups should be allowed back to work. Those in vulnerable groups should be protected by effectively quarantining them and if that means that for example grandparents can’t see grandkids until it’s safe well that’s a price worth paying to protect society isn’t it.

Non covid deaths are already 25% higher than usual due to the obsession with the virus. We won’t know for years how many extra deaths from cancer etc that could’ve been prevented by early screening will be added to the toll. All the extra resources diverted to white elephant nightingale hospitals at the expense of other care result in deaths, mental health problems that arise from being locked up day after day in cramped accommodation with little money will affect society, battered women stuck at home with abusive partners are in mortal danger but all that morons such as the guy you refer to can see is the simple equation “corona = death”. Anyone with a fucking brain can see it’s way more nuanced than that so technically he’s not right is he

Sure none of us want Liverpool to win the league...but cutting the season short at such a late stage, when something like this is a sensible option (in my opinion) does not show great integrity.

How long do you think it will be before this blanket criteria can be satisfied? So far, every country that has attempted to re-open - South Korea, China Germany, is seeing a spike in cases. Testing is nowhere near 100% full proof. What antibody tests have been conducted have shown nowhere near herd immunity, no vaccine in sight. We are probably talking 2 years before we are "sure everyone is safe and well". So yes let's resume this season in May 2022. Great idea.

Apologies, I should have stated that I was responding to the technicality of the ‘minority’. I wasn’t being disproving, just articulating.

Now, I’m more than happy to get into the economics of the situation but, in reality, what has football got to do with it? If you want to compare what the Premier League puts into the GDP, or assists the PPP then, by all means, crack on, but please do not then change the subject to the ‘Morale’ debate, definitely not ‘Moral’, as they are 2 completely different subjects.

I understand the governments stance in that we will allow people to die to ensure future economic stability, however, it does not mean that I have to accept that view and role over to let it happen. For me, what is worse is that there are a few nations that have taken the same stance and it’s almost as if this virus is there to serve a purpose. Once you allow that to determine your thinking all morality has gone and I could not abide by the club that I call my family being involved in such depravity.

Anyway, stay safe, Blue, let’s hope we all come out of this unscathed.

Leaving aside your mostly abusive tirade, what has any of this have to do with whether we should play football or not? Since when does football = the economy?
 
So if a player scores a goal, will it be ruled out if he wasn't 2 metres from the nearest player when he shoots

It is not so much the risk to yourself. It is who you can pass it to and they can die. And who they pass it to and they can die. I think you get the point. I very much hope so, anyway.

For me, football really shouldn't be starting yet.
