Just posted something very similar. The timing of that change was all wrong, disrupting both sides of the pitch just when we were dominant. If Grealish was coming on it should have been either earlier or later and he should have played in the hole.Agree. He tried to make things happen but was quickly surrounded and had no outlet. Kane was abysmal. And with two DMs there was no opportunity to go back and retain possession and the attack.
We were impatient in possession and tried to force things in the final third too much. But Southgate was moronic to take Foden off. The key to us winning the game was more patience and quality in possession and Foden for Grealish was stupid. Both needed to be on the pitch. He ended up switching Sterling to Foden's wing and putting Grealish wide left...where Foden has been best for City. Inexplicable.
