    Coronavirus (2022) thread

Not reported in the past two or three weeks as numbers had fallen and then levelled off in real numbers AND the Zoe data - which has hovered around 150,000 cases a day in the UK for around 10 days and the hospital data tracks it well and just showing slight signs of rising now. Though nothing to...

Here is the Zoe App today As you see it shows a continuing fall but not as steep as the rise and it is hinting at possibly even starting to flatten a little. Ongoing cases have fallen in the last seven days from 3,064,788 to 2,813,976 today Daily predicted new cases have fallen over the...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

Usual Thursday update: The patient numbers with covid have still fallen slowly over the week in England. But not at a huge rate. Enough though that they have fallen daily and been under 10,000 in hospital all week. Numbers over past 7 days to yesterday: 10,129 - 9935 - 9777 - 9755 - 9692 -...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

That flashback to early 2020 above is odd to see now. But illuminating. Pandemics like this are thankfully rare. Probably once a century. Though that was pre global travel and my bet is they are now going to be once a generation instead unless we find ways to test inobtrusively at all travel...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

I will be surprised if serious restrictions come back bar a very worrying variant that does seem to evade the vaccines or treatments. That can happen and is totally unpredictable but Christmas is the most likely time to drive a wave so January peak and falling by February mght be a good guess...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

The ONS Friday weekly report today still had a rise but lower than last week. At least the BBC reporting today noted that hospitalisations had flattened. As the last two Thursday reports here show. The data for the other UK nations now in is doing much the same Scotland flattened on 884...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

This winter jab is targetting the Omicron variants and there is evidence it is working against serious illness. It is different from past jabs and my arm was a bit sorer thn usual for 48 hours but that was it. Had it about 6 weels ago with that in one arm and the flu jab in the other at the...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

That is about it for another week. Fingers crossed the trend continues and hopefully the fall will increase a little from the snail's pace of today. Though it coud go the other way of course and start to rise once more. Hopefully not,

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

England hospital deaths last week totalled 550 V 462 the week before and 338 the week before that. No day topped 100. The last three days show the number V last week falling for the first time in a few weeks, Which matches all the other indications of a peak in the wave over the past week...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

The key thing about this new variant is that it has spread to many countries - including the US - but has not become dominant in most of them V older strains of Omicron. Of which this is really just another. It is better at avoiding treatments. Which is somewat worrying. But it has not...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

The weekly Covid hospital numbers are out and they match the surprisingly good Zoe numbers that for a few days have been suggesting this wave has already just about peaked. These are more up to date than the ONS numbers the media report on Fridays that are over a week old. Both Zoe and...

    Coronavirus (2022) thread

Those numbers are nearly ten days old. They have kept on rising since. The numbers a few posts ago in hospital yesterday are NHS ones and a week ahead of these today. So that suggests a bigger jump up will be there next Friday in the ONS data. The Zoe graph posted a few days ago is ahead of...
