Same reason Giuseppe Rossi wasn't in the squad - Lippi prefers experience to youth. Most Italian fans I know have been clamoring not only for him to be in the squad, but to be a starter as well.

Coentrao is better defensively. Both are good getting forward. Coentrao for me (at least from what I've seen) is one of those well balanced fullbacks that's as good in his defensive duties as he is in joining the attack a la A. Cole.

I've watched him play quite a bit and I can assure you guys that he is a quality player, whom I hope you do not get.

He plays mainly as a LB/LWB for Benfica as Di Maria plays LW for them. I don't know if any of you caught him in the Europa League last season, but he was one of the stand-out players. You can bet that Mourinho will be sniffing around him as well.

Let me just clarify that he is a good manager, but Ranieri was the one that purchased the majority of our best players. Mourinho had many questionable buys (save Drogs & Ess) during his reign, but his tactical acumen and motivation skills are unquestionable. I also don't see him taking the helm...

Tbh, Ranieri was better. I also think he will end up with the 'Rags' to be quite frank. There's just too much work for him to do at City imho.
